Find Your BitLocker Recovery Key

If your computer asks for your BitLocker recovery key, this video will help you find it. BitLocker encrypts your hard drive to protect your data, but sometimes it gets a little unhappy and needs a recovery key to decrypt the drive. Fortunately there are a number of places you might be able to find this key if you haven't got it to hand.

The manage-bde command is a preventative measure to make sure you have a copy of your key *before* you get locked out. If you're already locked out of your drive it won't work and you will need to use one of the other methods in the video to find your key.

Just wanted to support the pro tech show because nothing else worked for me and this man explained things beautifully! The donation I’m sending is literally nothing in comparison to the money I would have spent trying to fix this and lose all my data. Thank you for this! I have a 72yr old father who loves being on his laptop. He got this bitlocker screen and had no idea what to do cause of course Microsoft doesn’t prepare you for these occurrences. Anyway, I was able to use this video to solve the issue and recover his key from the MS account as instructed within minutes so thank you from me and my father.

I literally just want to personally thank you. For explaining this in simple terms. I spent hours trying to open my laptop and it told me there was no recovery key with my account, unbeknownst to me an old college microsoft account I used on my laptop before had the recovery key. This makes no sense. The Bitlocker key stops you from getting into your computer alltogether, so how can you go to any website and look for the recovery key?

Hell may have frozen over because I was convinced Windows had an update and killed any BitLocker recovery chance with all the research I have done. That particular command prompt did it. Thank you

Sir i purchased a laptop, its windows 11. I never came across this bit locker and all that, and i don't remember the product key (as he seller said it all is linked to your Microsoft account).... My laptop is working fine but from last two weeks i see a popup message whenever i start my computer, it says " there is an issue with trusted platform module (tpm) data.
Press (Y) - reset whole tpm
Press (N) - boot with current tpm data
Note: bitlocker may require the recovery key to boot to windows.

From the past one month I have been searching for solutions to find out my recovery key over the spit locker. I saw several videos in order to bypass this route it's a route, but unfortunately none of them were as helpful as your video was. You are a legend.
