Revolver was the first CD I bought with my own money in 1987 (I was 13) . Still my favorite beatles album

I got pneumonia at the start of my senior year of High School spent 4 or 5 days in the hospital missed over a month of school and when I got out of the hospital my mom had bought me Revolver so I'd have new music to listen to as I recovered.
Greatest mom EVER.
Have finally decided to put this album at the top of the Beatles heap for me, all the energy and fun of the early live days with tons of shades of sophistication coming on, still recording and tight as a group--it's the apex for me.

One Beatles track that I'd still like to hear is Carnival of Light. No matter how bad it might actually turn out to be. Just because it's somewhere out there.

Rain, with that bass sound, might be the most overlooked song in their catalog.

I am very interested in listening to the new stereo mix of Revolver. I was never a fan of mono (mono recordings just sound dull and "flattened" to my ears), and early stereo mixes pre-1968 were usually lousy. A new stereo mix of Revolver is long overdue, in my opinion.

Tomorrow Never Knows was mixed on the hoof live, so the tape loops were randomly pulled in & out. I saw an interview where George Martin chuckled about how impossible it would be to remix. Personally I haven't been much of a fan of the Giles M remixes to date, they're a bit like chewing gum - interesting for the first few goes and then wear thin. Not sure his dad was keen on remixing, he approved remastering for CD for technical reasons but I think he preferred the mixes themselves to be left alone as time capsules.

I’d love to have been a fly on the studio wall when they discussed reasons for the innovative sound manipulation that made it to album, especially the reverse-tracking, varispeed and use of tape loops. This was really avant-garde stuff for that time. And just how influential was LSD in this production process?

I did think a nice vinyl box of this would be good, then I saw the price... £200 for 4 LP's and some blurb is insane.

I cannot wait to hear this. Have to say though, much as I love the recent remixes, the best I have heard are the tracks on the 1999 Yellow Submarine release.

This is so exciting . I agree with your assessment that Rubber Soul nips this one at the tape . Girl is majestic . I’ve just seen a face. I will purchase the deluxe because it’s like a piece of history, re imagined . My only other note is the lack of more visits to Tomorrow Never Knows . Thank you for this work

I’m intrigued to hear the alternate version of She Said She Said - apparently that’s the song where Paul stormed out of the session due to an argument (according to Mark Lewisohn, Paul himself and several other sources), and George helped John complete the song and played bass guitar. If the one on the CD is just a three-piece, then it might sound quite skeletal and raw!

Sounds like yet another very intriguing set. Definitely a collector's item and a really creatively done track listing. And Revolver is such a special album for obvious reasons.
Will have to heavily consider an acquisition.

Source is four-track master tape. Haven't the original mixes been preserved in the archive, which were then reduced for overdubs?

Thanks for the update. There is also a 2CD deluxe version which I will probably go for especially as it will include Rain/Paperback Writer plus 1 alternative mix of almost all the album tracks.

Another wonderful episode. I think a lot of material, for example, Doctor Robert's alternate take, will be reissues from The Beatles Anthology. But that's fine because Anthology's songs need an update on the fidelity

I am extremely excited to see this release. I expect the full 5-CD release will come with a painful price tag, so I might not go for that. But I certainly want to pick up the new stereo mix. I was thrilled when Ringo showed the new release while talking about his upcoming tour!

Ooo, and the official Youtube channel for The Beatles has *just* released "a video" for the _"Taxman (2022 Mix)", _ although the "video" part is just a still photo of the cover of the new deluxe package. They released it about 10 minutes ago!

My wife was a Beatles fan and a member of their fan club, and years ago she said that ‘Revolver’ was her favourite album of theirs. I was slow off the mark and didn’t buy a Beatles record until ‘Hello Goodbye’, although I had enjoyed their records. We may well invest in this, it just depends on how expensive they make it!
