Derringer made an instant classic and this song is Rock n Roll! If you don’t like this, then you don’t like Rock n Roll! Period!

Rick Derringer is consistently one of the most under appreciated guitarists of all time. He's simply so solid I just don't understand how he doesn't get more recognition.

Rick, Dan and Edgar never truly got the respect that earned for their incredible work.

This is what rock n roll sounded like, almost a half century ago. Like a Locomotive tearing up the track. That's why they're smiling, because it's fun tearing up the track. Thanks FIL, for another great memory.

Rick Derringer is great. For years I didn't realize that at age 17 he was the lead vocalist and lead guitarist on the McCoys #1 hit Hang On Sloopy in 1965. What a career he has had.

The bass player, Dan Hartman, was the guy who did the song "I Can Dream About You" which was a big hit. He was a great singer, songwriter, producer, and even a studio engineer. He also wrote the song "Free Ride" for Edgar Winter.

You know you're badass when Edgar Winter is playing keys for you.

We all were blown away back in the early 1970’s by Rick Derringer and Johnny & Edgar Winter.
Also Robin Trower, Yes, Focus, Nazareth, BTO and many others.

One of the coolest rock n roll songs ever

My mother was a concert pianist. She taught me that every instrument the instrument should focus on adding to or complimenting the melody. When you listen to the guitar solos of the true grades you hear the guitar actually sing out! Sadly, so many guitar solos are now about shredding as many notes as possible... which is just sad! Other greats like Richie Blackmore and Brian May really understand how to make a guitar sing... But Rick Derringer was there 1st!

I've seen Rick many many times, and tipped back a few beers with him too. He went to one of my gigs the night after one of his, and stayed for a beer after our first set. We did our Johnny, Edgar, and Rick medley and he liked it. He didn't jam with us though. He gave me advice that I follow to this day. He told me to stop holding my breath during my solos. He's right. When I concentrated on breathing, I discovered that I grind my teeth while I play too. These deprive our muscles of oxygen, and waste energy that causes us to have a rough third set later on in the night. He is one of the coolest down to earth people who are actually famous too. I'm just a nobody, and he's still polite and respectful.

I'm not sure which is more fun: watching the performance, or watching Fil watch the performance.

Edgar winter is such a freak, in the best possible way. He's really laying it down. Overall what a performance. Heavy groove. These guys are really having a blast.

Rick looks like a kid just having the time of his life.
