I do most of my own maintenance and I really appreciate videos exactly like this! The picture before is a great hack, I changed a light fixture and got pretty mixed up because unhooked everything without a picture first. I replaced the heat sensor in my furnace myself also. It saves alot of money doing it myself....and pray my house doesn't burn down. 😂 Hence the reason I watch these videos before hand. 👍

Great video, I still have a question though.
Does it matter where the dimmer switch is installed? Before the non dimmable switch or after?
I'm planing on adding another switch to the lightning in my basement.
Our basement light switch is at the top of the stairs I'd like to add a dimmable switch in the basement so I can dim or turn off the lights without going upstairs.
I understand I have to replace the current switch with a 3 way switch.

You said “common” several times in this video. Some people may get confused with a neutral/white wire, aka common. A common/neutral/sometimes white wire should never be the switched side of the circuit. I really enjoy your videos. Ive learned so much. Thank you for your time and dedication!

Shannon, always informative videos - thanks for what you do. I noticed that you didn't connect the ground wire to the switch. I saw that there was a ground curled up in the back of the box that was not connected to the old switch. Oversight or sound reasoning that I'm not aware of?
