It's funny how Palpatine claims that Luke will be one of them when he and Vader know full well that when it comes to the Sith there can only be two. When a new recruit is spotted the current apprentice must be replaced. Vader knows this as he killed Dooku before earning his spot as the apprentice in the Sith hierarchy. He knows he's going to be replaced and seeks to have Luke for himself to off the Emperor. At this point Palps and Vader are plotting to kill each other all the while acting like they're about to add a new member to their fraternity.
