Hey Jesse, why don't you go to Vietnam? There is a karate style called "Suzucho" which was brought straight from Japan

Jesse seems like the nice st guy on the planet. I adored your series essentially taking us with you to Okinawa. You've inspired me greatly to get back to my training and explore all facets. Got a group of guys weve been practicing bunkai and practical application with. Even been reading alot! Thanks again Jesse. You're the best.

Thanks for spreading the word on the history of Karate.

Kobudo vs Historical European Martial Art: HEMA. That would be interesting to see two styles going up against each other.

It's interesting what schools and styles incorporate kobudo in their curriculum. My first school/style (Uechi-Ryu) had zero kobudo taught. My current school (a Shito-Ryu dojo) teaches kobudo basics and katas for bo, sai, and kai-bo for the advanced students. I love my kobudo practice (I'm partial to the sai). It brings a whole new level of exploration and practice into my karate training.

Oh wow. I actually practise this. Did not expect anyone else to talk about it. I've found it very valuable. What you learn in Karate and in Kobudo synergise quite well with each other.

I remember hearing somewhere that if one becomes skilled in kobudo, it's like always having 2 people (your weapons) backing you up in a fight

Hi Jesse. I am from India and I am a 39 years old man. I am not a master but practicing the basics of martial art through out my life. During the early and mid 90s when I started martial arts I always wondered when I saw Karatekas practicing weapons because I knew that the meaning of Karate is empty hand. At that time we didn't have any concept of information technology or internet. Our only source of Information was few sports channel ( like star sports, espn etc) and few English movie channels. As I was very weak in English in those days I could only saw the action but wasn't able to understand anything. Later in my life I turned to Wushu Sanda and a little bit of amateur MMA. Thanks Jesse for your valuable information 🙏🙏. I will definitely start Kubudo training from your videos.

Good work. I get the impression that weapons training is currently put off by a lot of people. Maybe its from a thought of the practicality against firearms. However, it shouldn't be about that. Weapons training is great exercise: it works the muscles in different ways, improves posture, increases hand eye coordination, helps you understand physics, and so much more

Nice iniciative! I've been practising Matayoshi Kobudo for a few years and I noticed that few people in the world practise with the traditional weapons. I hope that online course goes well and kobudo can become a little bit more popular :D Good luck!
