I have studied karate for only about 2.5 years, and I only started taking the Kobudo classes in the last month or two. Man - I have been missing out. I wish I had started right away. I find that it really helps to feel how some of the movements from the empty hand techniques feel when you have a bo or sai in your hands! I think it is helping me improve my karate thinking a lot! Oss!

My son is 7 and he does Matayoshi Kobudo! He enjoys it a lot and it bring the best out of him in a relaxed environment without the pressure of the Kara Dojo where he practice Karate.

Kobudo and Karate can work well with each other, I practice Kyokushin Karate, and of course it's not known for practicing Kobudo, almost every Friday we have an instructor from Goju Ryu school come to our dojo to teach Matayoshi Kobudo!

Happy to say Kobudo is coming more and more alive here in Canada. I train in Matayoshi but I've also know a few places near me that are studying Ryukyu as well

In my area, there's a dojo, that teaches Kobudo(which perfectly fits into my schedule) and some Karate-Do(which I sadly can't do, because it's too late), and the training is really good. We get taught in the Kobudo-weapons(if you want to call it that way) except nunchaku, because they are illegal in Germany. It sounds like an advertisement, but it isn't, I just wanted to show, that I'm really happy to have those opportunities in like a 30-40 km distance and it isn't a McDojo

But more in way to expand your move.

I was just thinking about this! my old karate school used to teach kubudo and i loved it, but now my new school doesn't! very few places teach kubudo these days which is a massive shame
