Chronic inflammation is linked to most diseases, including cancer, heart disease, diabetes, arthritis and even depression.

Personally, I was diagnosed with arthritis in my hip in my 30s. At the time, my doctor told me I had the wear-and-tear of an 80-year-old (thank you childhood competitive figure skating…) and I was told I should consider surgery. I was also told to go to physical therapy and eat more turmeric because it’s anti-inflammatory. That one comment sent me down a path of research about anti-inflammatory foods which I now include in my weekly diet.

My favorite anti-inflammatory foods include:

Extra Virgin Olive Oil
Avocado
Broccoli
Berries
Carrots
Beans
Lentils
Kale
Ginger
Honey
Onions
Pumpkin Seeds
Chia Seeds
Tofu
Spices: Cinnamon, Sumac, Saffron, Turmeric, Oregano, Fenugreek
Cilantro + Parsley
Green Tea
Holy Basil Tea
Burdock Root

Today, I am pain free and I truly believe it’s a combination of the food I eat and because I work on strengthening the muscles around my hip.

Warning. For many people legumes like beans and lentils are inflammatory causing. Same with kale and seeds or nuts.
