Never in my life have I been loved so much by my dog! Always, always have had a sidekick dog..but NEVER had a mutual understanding of love till my Penny licked my tears while I profusely cried over loosing a loved one! She stays by myself every chance we get! She sleeps right under my blanket touching my leg♡ if only humans could be so kind! Aloha to all Doxie lovers!!!❤

Have owned many different breeds over the course of my life, but the greatest joy was my Dachsie who made it to 17 years, and I know I will miss him for the rest of my life.

We have had 4 dachshunds we raised, 3 of the 4 had back problems my 4th one Mocha had surgery and lived a wonderful full life, she passed at 17 years old, of old age. My first one Suzze was a living doll we loved her so very much. I came home from work one day noticed her dragging her back end and crying from the pain. We rush her to the vet to be told that her back had a ruptured disk. What happened next was to put her down (which I would have never agreed to see was only 2 yrs old), or go through a long long recovery process. So Suzze was put on pain medicine, and steroids, put in confinement, I lined a dresser drawer with pillows, baby blankets, and potty pads to keep her immobile. This continued for several weeks. My son would come home at he's lunch time to give her her medicine and would call me at work to report on her. Once the medicine started working her pain had subsided she was wagging her tail, and eating so food. Our vet said we could try letting her walk with her front legs so we made a harness to go around her tummy, plus support her back. It took her time to adjust to walking on her front legs but we think she finally enjoy being out and about. This we a long process but in our hearts we kept faith that it helped. Our next exercise was filling the bathtub with warm water place her in tub holding her tummy and lower back then hold her and go back and forth to get her to patil back an forth. Dogs natural instinct is to swim. After thinking I had broken my ribs doing this 2 time a day😬 for weeks she started kicking her back legs. It was the most exciting thing to see. We all knew she will recover a walk again🎉🎉🎊🎊 Our vet was so happy with her progress he lowered the amount of medicine we had been giving her🙃🙃. At that point we moved her dresser drawer into my husband and my bed between us. It was so nice having her next to us again. At night my husband would take her out to potty in the back yard. We did this for a few weeks, and then one night I heard a blood curtailing scram it was about 2 am in the morning it scared the hell out of me and our sons. Then we heard my husband crying Suzze can all sat there watching her walk slowly and wobbly🎉🎊😢😢 crying holding her with so much excitement and love🐾🐾🐕🐕🐶🐶💞💖💋💋🎊🎉
She lived a happy health life for 11 more years. We 'd all do it again in a heart beat💖

Yes we have a miniature Dachshund called Harry. He’s just over one year old and is a very good little boy. His problems are - pooping in the house if it’s raining because he hates the rain (unless he’s out there with my golden retriever girl and terrier mix boy) but despite being entire he doesn’t scent mark in the house - he also likes to dig up the garden but I know that’s in their nature. He doesn’t bark much but people are surprised when he does because his bark is so strong, like a dog much bigger than him. He’s our first Dachshund and a loving little boy who adores every customer that comes into the shop, loves my grandsons and is always up for a cuddle. He’s a gorgeous little boy. 💙

My Waddles was a laid back, non yappy, happy go lucky Dauchshund. He bonded with me and my younger daughter. I miss him so much. He was 17 years old. He was the best and the epitome of good health.

Doxie parent here, we have Frankie Beans age 13, dapple, Simon Peabody age 1.5 black and cream, Lulabelle, age 1.5 all black. My gang are all Long Haired. We couldn't love them more! We had Lily and Oliver originally which are Frankie Beans parents. We lost them both during the pandemic. Our hearts were totally broken. Frankie howled and cried every day after his parents passed. When we brought home the two younger pups for him he started to heal. They are sensitive dogs for sure!

My husband came home from a business trip with a rescue daschund . His was ted in color and had a very small bottom jaw. Bob was protective of his family, and property. He went everywhere with us in the RV. But most of all, Bob was was very affectionate and loved our pug, Molly. Even though I am pug person, I would definitely get another daschund because Bob mafe is by laugh and “loved” us unconditionally. I miss him.

I have a dachshund mix, but I believe it is mostly of the dachshund breed. I adopted him at the Humane Society and he is such a great companion!

We have two mini dachshund puppies, 7 and 4 months old! The older one rarely sleeps during the day, the younger one tires very easily and can sleep all day! Their energy is never ending, especially at night when it’s time to go to bed. This breed is truly a challenge, I am finding, with their bathroom habits. Thank goodness for vinyl flooring! I love my boys❤❤❤
