It almost happened to my great grandad. During the Hull Blitz, he was in North Africa when a bomb exploded next to air raid shelter where my great grannie and her new baby (my grandma) were sheltered. 3 people died in the shelter as a result but my great grannie and grannie were saved by ARP wardens who dug them out.
I lost my great grannie in 2014 and my grannie in 2010, I'm glad they shared this story with me otherwise it would have been forgotten in history.

The german night bombing campaign on London and other british cities during WW2 was called “The Blitz”. Blitzkrieg was a ground warfare tactic that involved spearheading fast-moving armored units deep into an opponent’s territory and exploiting the breach with infantry so as to prevent the opponent from being able to consolidate an effective defensive line.

I'd forgotten what a good movie this is. Superb filming and pace. It is evident that they were going for gritty authenticity.

Blitz, it was just called Blitz. Not Blitzkrieg.
Also, this one scene inspired me to try out scale model making as a hobby.

It was the Blitz. Blitzkreig was a battle doctrine.

Following this, the young pilot retired to the woods where he started a peaceful settlement and later encountered the Hound who would go on to avenge his untimely death.

I think whoever's posting these videos needs to run the video titles past someone before submitting them. The film is called 'Battle of Britain', not 'The Battle of Britain' - and it's the 'Blitz', not blitzkrieg.

The film should have explored the aftermath of the family’s death more

The original script had the pilot give the older kid a Spitfire model and the younger kid a Hurricane model. The young kid then bursts into tears!

Only joking! 😂

This is supposed to be the offcial channel of MGM, and they call the London Blitz "blitzkrieg"???

The title is incorrect. Maybe who ever the 12 year old is should read up on the “Blitz”?

"There's a family trapped in Shaw Street" - is that a fictional street, name after the actor Robert Shaw or is it a real street in London?
