One of my favourite things about this channel is learning just how many different variants there are of the same console model due to the internal parts slightly changing. Even the original GameBoy Advance had two different models.

Man, these solder points of these mods get smaller and smaller in your videos 😲. Bravo to developing your skills!
Also, I love the wire routing you did...very nice.

My 20 year old PS2 slim: “I can be like big bro?!”
Great work on the video!

I've tried to do this mod couple of years ago but ended up without any luck and a slipped resistors array (which I've fixed eventually). Now with this ribbon cable, better soldering gear and gained experience I want to give it another try. Thanks for inspiration!

Tito if you haven't heard it yet, you're an animal! You're all over the retro console spectrum bringing attention to some of the most unique modifications available to our beloved childhood consoles.

To say you've really developed this channel into a mainstay doesn't begin to describe the overall success it's encapsulated. I know other channels have existed to bring similar content, but your video editing skills have made the content easily digestible for a wide audience. I genuinely look forward to your videos.

Thanks for what you do!

20:50 although the connection is the same, the 70k is not equivalent functionality-wise to a expansion bay model

Sony removed the HDD drivers from on board ROM. Wich essentially makes the 70k behave the same as a PCMCIA model, aka: *SCPH-1X000*

To put it simple: it won't autonomously boot the HDD MBR program, it requires a bootloader on the memory card.
Fortunately, FreeMcBoot has a secret feature to do the MBR booting on its own, it just requires pasting 3 .irx drivers into the corresponding system update folder

Man I just love that Cable Management, and the crisp solder joints!

Keep up the good work Tito!

Hard to imagine many people taking the time to do this mod. But it is pretty cool that someone figured it all out.

Might have finally found a mod I’m not comfortable installing on this channel 😂. Really impressive work with the cable management!

A SATA adapter that accepts USB drives would make this mod the ULTIMATE way to portablize the PS2. Very advanced stuff, but also insanely cool. Congrats to the mod maker and thanks to you for another excellent video.

I've been thinking about doing this HDD mod for a while now, so this flex cable is a godsend. Your implementation with the microSD card is really sleek, and by chance I happen to have to same IDE to SD card adapter so will definitely give it a go

Love it as always. It's literally the morning ritual for my kids and I before school!

What a great time we live in. So many awesome mods coming out lately that really help out modders to slim down the time and cleanliness of the install. Great video as always Tito. Keep em coming!

Thats some sweet sweet cable management pron. Well done. Looks sleek and probably the nicest slim mod now. Don't use my ps2 since I got my deck but I still REALLY want to do this mod for fun. Looks like a nice challenge.

Forgot to say this last week. BUT congrats on finally being able to rent your own filming location for videos. Even if these things aren't stuff I can do myself. I love seeing how they come together.

This is one awesome mod to do indeed.
Find it just really relaxing watching you modding 😅

I've been waiting for this. I have an SSD modded Phat PS2, but also a Slim 7000 series. I've seen IDE mods for it, but it's been virtually impossible to find one actually for sale.

Like you mentioned this was originally a mod discovered by a user over at psx-scene, it required a lot of wires and cutting into a IDE cable, later a Chinese manufacturer started making them on two flex cables and included a replacement bottom cover for the PS2 and a 12/5v power supply, it could take any 3.5" IDE hard drives, there was some bugs with the original software too but can't remember them as it was years since I last fitted one, we only ever got about a dozen of them before they disappeared off the market.

Some things to consider with the SCPH-7000x it's not recommended to install a mod chip(modbo 4, Matrix infinity etc...) in them in my book, the mechacon on these are notoriousfor crashing and killing the laser coils, only protection that worked about 80% of the time was the sub-zero mod, or the resistor mod, don't use the diodes that come with chips they are useless, I stopped doing that model console because of that.

wow! it is unfortunate just how complex this mod is. the 128GB storage limit is definitely a big con with the sd card. i currently have two 2TB drives setup on a fat ps2 totaling about 1000 games and i couldn't be happier with the flexibility that provides. regardless, i never thought it would be possible to install a ssd or sd card adapter into a slim ps2 so this is very impressive!

This awesome. I'd only wish this ribbon cable would not cost like a 3x ps2 slims on a used market.
