These videos are much more useful in learning German than I have ever had when using Babble or Duolingo. In those programs they just throw words at you without explaining the context or verbs and such. I have found these videos to really work, plus I really enjoy them!

s between 2 vowels is pronounced like Z (in English)
s at the end of a word and beside a consonant is mostly pronounced like S
ss or ß is always pronounced like S
z is pronounced like "ts", but if it follows an n (nz), is pronounced like Z
It may seem a bit complicated, but just consider this as a rule of thumb: s=z, ss=s, z=ts

So 10 (zehn) is pronounced like: "tsehn"
