Man that’s insane that Placido is your cousin. I’m a brown belt getting back to strength training after years off lifting. Been seeing Placido in the Danaher videos for years and have now been enjoying your videos while getting back to it. Also bought some strength co plates and enjoying those as well!

Fact check: Grant told me to gain 30lbs, my body was so emaciated that it gained 50. Right now I’m above 50lbs of weight gain.

I’ve had a few say I’m on steroids but that’s a compliment to Grant if I ever heard one 😅

I'm sure that most of this audience have some respect or admiration for Rip. I myself included. But the reality is that rip most of the time leave some questions on the air and it's difficult for some people try to interpret the information. I love this guy. Along with Andy Baker, Grant is one of the best coaches I've seen in the matter that these guys are GREAT at explaining the reality of strength training in the general public. Not everyone is going to be bitten by the iron bug and most people will search many different kinds of training just because of boredom or tendency. Thank you very much for making all these points clear for everyone. Enjoy your training everyone!

Went from 5 ft 10” 175 to 195 in 4 months. So glad. Fit clothes much better, getting stronger, and jacked.

Until you can squat 4 plates, dead lift 5 plates, bench 3 plates, and press 2 plates, don't be concerned about weight. Kill weakness first!

From my 40's to my 50's my bodyfat increased from 20 to 28%. That said I've never been as strong as I'm right now. Also thanks to Rip and Grant with their video's about training. I should lose a couple of kg, but first I want to hit another PR😁

I definitely gained too much weight during my first starting strength cycle. I started of quite lean with an athletic build and ended up having quite a bulky dad-bod physique. In hindsight I should have been more careful as the additional fat that I gained lingered around for years later.

Any more advice for an obese man? For context I’m 5’6” at 276 pounds. Should I even be strength training or should I be doing another form of training?

Great content. But I watched the first 12 seconds 4 times just to see what your cat was looking for? 😂

If you are hungry - EAT. Quality food no junk.
If you are training heavy you’ll be hungry. Milk is good - I use Fairlife. Don’t get fat, put on quality size. Unless you are competing in weight class powerlifting competition who really care how much you weigh.

No Rip's is not saying to gain weight if they're underweight (biggest bs line I've heard), he says it in many cases where they are at a healthy body weight. At 6'4" he told the guy to go from 215 to 300. If you look up what healthy body weight is for various sizes, it's lower than people expect. The whole surplus for gaining strength, I know there's some truth to it. But I don't think it's entirely true.

Rip says 5’9” at 240 pounds is good weight to be at.

5'6" started at 210. I've gained 15lbs lol. Adding weights to the lifts but I'm feeling really fat and not so good health wise

I really wish I knew how to eat. I'm fat at 6'00" 235 lbs and completely detrained (haven't been under a bar for several years). I gave up before because I couldn't figure the diet out, or at least that's the excuse I told myself.

I'm ready to get back at it. If I'm fat, should I still be in a slight surplus of calories, or should I be around maintenance? Hope you can help, and thanks a bunch.

I am a 5'11'' amateur boxer, assuming I don't want to get my bodyweight over 170 and I want to train strength 2 times per week, what should my numbers look like? Here's my best guess:

350 Deadlift
260 Squat
210 Bench press and
130 Press

Is this too ambitious given my height and weight or, on the contrary, I might be aiming too low?

Drinking a gallon of milk a day is a faster way to get a fatty liver than being an alcoholic
