When it comes to factoring relatively simple trinomials, like the one in this problem, who here does a strict systematic approach, and who here does more of a hunch-and-check? I don't think I was ever taught any systematic approach to factoring simple trinomials. It's more like, if you do enough of them, you start to remember bits and pieces, so you can get a good hunch or two that will probably work when you check it. Again, just for simple ones like this.
