The fact is, once you decide to get lean, the diet never, ever stops. Sure, eventually the deficit ends. However, if you want to look good forever you need to eat good forever. Many people (like old me) just were not prepared to change their life. Diets “fail” because you can’t just lose some weight and that’s the work done.

"Watching this video at 9:30 PM on Dec 31st – perfect timing to set the tone for the New Year! Especially after the holiday feasting, this is just what I needed to gear up and aim for self-improvement in the coming year. Thanks for the boost! 🎉"

Exactly the way I am feeling today after a month of 'zero' days and completely falling off the wagon....you couldn't have verbalised it better. Well done Mario and keep up the good work. This is a life lesson, not just a fitness goal...thank you.

YESSS.... Completely inspiring, this, I managed this, with muscle building, (at 63 years!) but I see so many younger people expecting constant uphill results, and older people not even wanting to try..oand gove up to zero at the first disappointmen....it makes me so sad, cause I know that going up is A PROJECT with A LEARNING and A SUCCESS/FAIL CURVE, its is not falling off the wagon that matters, what matters is: how soon do you get back UP there. Thanks Mario, again, I learned a lot from you in the past.

I just recently found Mario Tomic's videos. I am impressed with the quality of the filming and quality of the ideas. Good balance of advice and realism.

This was great. I've been saying "something is better than nothing." Don't fall back to zero is a great saying.

Love the positivity. For anyone reading what worked for me was stsrting small. All I did for the 1st month was add 30 minutes of walking a day in. The 2nd month I just changed my lunch to a set 3 meal rotation. 3rd month I started to count calories by estimating. Start small with steps you can maintain. I went from 320 to 225 in about 1 year. Its been 3 years now and Im at 245. I havent been perfect and definitely fell off from my peak but Im in a much better place.

Yup, you're right. I can attest that's the most important thing (and not just in fitness): NOT allowing yourself to fall back to level ZERO! Always knowing and gathering the will to cut your losses. Stopping the regression or plateau and resuming the uptrend!

The way to the top (if there is such a place) is NEVER a straight uptrend! But a zigzag line which overall goes upward (a zigzag uptrend). In a zigzag uptrend, what is important is not perfection and constant upward progress but cutting down losses and stopping downtrend before you reaching zero or worse lower than the previous low.

Gosh thank you, I've just had a week of sickness and didn't lose anything (nautrally), and I'm just beginning to take off the baby weight, so I was feeling frustrated. So inspired by that chart, 39 yo, executive and four kids. I'm a stay at home mum with three little kids, I can do this!!!

Thats so cool that you are still making vids!

I used to always watch fitness videos daily back in like 2016. But now i just have been mindlessly working out and eating pretty much similar stuff since.

The main gains i have made since is free time because i get everything done in the morning.

Great advice, Mario, I'm with you all of the way on this. All or something is what should be the mindset of all those dedicated to improving. (Btw, I loved how you sneaked in the "forget to hit the 'like' button", seamlessly working it into the flow of the video. Nicely done!)

This really helped me today. I was having one of my depressive episodes, and my brain decided to pick on how my body looks. I've been going to the gym for several months now, training consistently, in a caloric deficit, but I can't see any significant results. I did get stronger in some muscle groups, but some areas are still lacking. I was beating myself up until I came across your video, and that was the pep talk I needed. So thank you!

God bless you my friend, amazing videos that I can go back to ANY DAY for motivation. Even when I'm feeling motivated I can just watch these and feel fired up to continue working. Thank you friend.
