F15 Full Afterburner Vertical Take off

That was hardly a vertical takeoff especially for an F-15. How did you pass geometry?

Never really appreciated just how big of a bird the F15 is. I recently started taking flying lessons in a Cessna and seeing a similar plane next to the F-15 was kind of an eye-opener.

I've seen an F-15 do a real vertical climb at an ANG base. During an airshow it made a low & slow pass, gear and flaps hanging out, then went to afterburner, sucked everything up and went vertical. I could see it actually accelerate before it became a dot then disappeared directly above the runway. The noise was incredible and the whole thing was just beautiful.

It is fun to watch any piece of equipment with that much power take off.  I bet every non military pilot on the field that day took a moment to watch in awe.

1. Absolutely nothing happens before 3:05... For a title "full afterburner vertical take off", to show 3:05 of boring taxi is a major UGH.
2. fwiw, fifteen seconds from power to rotation.
3. Not really a vertical takeoff, on the second pass the SE goes into a steep climb.

I know the F-22 is more advanced & deadly but the F-15 will always be my all time fav fighter plane.  It's a beautiful design, fast, agile, versatile & has a perfect combat record.  Doesn't get much better than that.

Some people enjoy just looking at an aircraft from various angles and hearing the sounds.  Not every video on Youtube has to just show the landing or takeoff part.  This is a good video.

Well, I like this vid.
The sound is fantastic,
the close ups are excellent and I like the contrast
of th e F15s against the various business jets at the airport.
I love the way the old guys laugh as they watch the take offs.
And knife edge departure
is SO COOL.

It is really amazing, how big the F-15 seems compared to the other planes. But yeah - the take off was definitely not exactly vertical [otherwise we could save our money for the STOL F-35 variant].

Sioux Falls SD probly 5-6 years back a guy in an F-15 pulled a straight 90 degree upward untill we lost sight of him  it was amazing
