I own a condo across the river from PDX tower. I’ve been lucky to watch the training into and out of PDX. Seen many unrestricted takeoffs and they never get old. Don’t know what they’re called but the stunted landing approaches are a thrill to watch. So what if they make a lot of noise. Freedom has a price.

I live just a stone's throw away from PDX, where this video was filmed. Occasionally, while I'm plane-spotting there, if I get lucky, I'll see at least one of those birds taking off or landing. It's a sight to behold, for sure, although that's especially true of the takeoffs.

Yes the f15 is one of the few planes that thrust is so strong it does not need wings to fly . The engines are strong enough to keep it straight like a missle

After dropping a friend off to catch a flight out of Portland I drove to the top of the parking structure in time to see an eagle of the Oregon air national guard take off. Video is good, but it doesn't compare to being there.
