The F-15 is one of the few planes that can hit mach while going vertical

The first time an F-15A did this was at Luke AFB outside of Phoenix Az in 1975! I was working on F-4 Phantoms when we heard the F-15 kick on its afterburners on (they normally don’t use burners for takeoff) we all climbed on top of our F-4’s we were working on to watch what was going on halfway down the runway the F-15 went vertical climbed to about 20, 000ft rolled over to horizontal & left the area all while directly over the base!

On our static display @ Connley AFB, Waco, Tx about ‘85 and watched an AF demo F-15 takeoff and climb vertically out of sight…you could just barely see the glint coming off the canopy as he disappeared @ 40K+ feet. Then you see him at the far N end of the active come screaming down to perform a high speed pass right down the centerline and back up into a Cuban 8…absolutely gorgeous!! Actually waters the eyes just thinking about it - America!!🇺🇸

When you consider these aircraft first entered service in '76, it proves how amazingly well designed and built; kudos to McDonnell Douglas

Opinion from Monterrey México....I had the chance to eat a hot dog snack under an EAGLE F-15 during THUNDERBIRDS show at REESE AFB in LUBBOCK TX. in july 27 1985, unforgettable experience....excuse my "english"....

No wonder Starscream, Skywarp and Thundercracker chose these as vehicle modes.. Best dadgum jets ever built and they're STILL being built.

I use to eatch these planes at Holloman Afb do this quite often on friday afternoons. They would do this without the extra tanks, ..climb until you couldnt hear them or see them. Even on a sunny clear day you just couldnt see that little speck way up there. A couple minutes later, theyd come back and land. Theyd do a little showing out on friday afternoons over the dessert.
Watched them there and for several years over in Holland. Soesterberg AFB. as a teenager. Miss hearng all the sounds of the jets.

F22 maybe more updated, but the F15 is just timeless

The F-15 is a rocket disguised as an aircraft.

Get to see and here them along with c130s all day and night during the week. My backyard i watched the air show last year! Im right at 1.25 miles from the tarmac of Seymour Johnson AFB, way the bird flys! Ngl, its gets annoying sometimes it rattles the house constantly, knocking shid off the shelves 😂 But it is more amazing than annoying so i dont mind it. They literally take off and land directly over my house and property. My dogs love watching them too when we're in the yard
