This is the first time that I hear that quarks might be made of even smaller particles. And thus this begs the question:
If quarks are made of preon particles, then what particles might preons be made of?

Well, even though these hypothetical preons have to be extremely small, they still will have to be larger than the Planck volume.
We can't measure that small, but at least we can define and calculate it.

Half way through my physics undergrad and i never heard of preons. I doubt its more supported than string theory.

I think eveything just gets infinitely smaller and larger, there will never be an end, the universe is infinite

then when what are preons made of? then what is that made of?

there is Universe Grid theory that says quarks are on the space grid and nothing can go smaller (space grid is like cubes that has balls [balls = quarks] inside it, with diameter of one edge of the cube and its not possible for the quarks to be off-grid - they have to be inside one cube and not 2 or 3). space grid is like pixel, you cant just display something smaller on pixel, because pixels have some size and you cant display something smaller. If you did, it would be invisible, so there is something invisible and unimageable (preons) or nothing.

I think preons also have fundamental particle, and my guess is they are quantum particle.

I feel like this just goes absolutely infinitely… because how could something just be made up of itself…? From what science shows, everything is made up of another. Maybe just until planck length. maybe we will find out maybe we won’t.

the standard model does a pretty good job at explaining particle physics without the preon. its not to say they dont exist but given that they're not really needed we wouldn't need to " theorize " with them. The LHC is doing a good job at investigating it tho.

Actually a proton consists of 3 'VALENCE' quarks.

Preons arent made of anything. They are conduits for subtle energy from higher dimensions
