What are quarks? Neil DeGrasse Tyson explained
Quarks are elementary particles and fundamental constituents of matter. Quarks are a type of particle that constitute matter. Look around you…all of the matter that you see is made up of protons and neutrons. #shorts #shortsfeed #quarks #physics #neildegrassetyson

up quarks charge is 2/3
down quark is -1/3

Two hydrogen atoms are walking on the street. One tells the other, I think I’m missing my electron. The other says, are you sure? Answer: yes I’m positive

I am a new fan! What I enjoy the most is his ability to explain hard-to-understand concepts.

There is no way that, there is some physicist whose last name is "Swagg" XD

Thanks, never quite got quarks before. It's the beauty of Neil, he knows how to explain things to non-scientists.

I enjoy Neil’s talks and his sense of humor.

And there I was thinking that a quark was just the sound that a posh duck made. haha

It looks like the quark model is actually incomplete. There appears to be something happening that makes that there's a bunch of other subatomic particles in there that aren't "really there" until the thing gets smashed with enough energy. Collisions at nearly 2c effectively makes it appear as though we're looking at 11 quarks in there, but only 3 of them having mass at the same time.

What if the neutron consists of 4 components (2 positive and 2 negative) and the proton consists of 2 positive and one negative). During binding in the atomic nucleus, the negative element of the neutron jumps to the proton, swapping these particles with properties (the proton becomes a neutron and the neutron becomes a proton). This phenomenon would produce bonding between nucleons without resorting to particles with fractional electric charge.

What series is this? Can anyone share the full video link?

Every teacher and professor should model their lecture styles after Neil deGrasse Tyson! He can make the phone book sound fascinating!

Neil degrass Tyson is excellent teacher. He teaches in such simple, fundamental n unpretentious way, that one starts really understanding n thinking about the topic 👏🏻👏🏻👍🏻

The fractions are a result of backward compatibility.

You could just easily as define a charge unit such that electrons have a charge of -3, protons have a charge of +3, up quarks have a charge of +2 and down quarks have a charge of -1

What flavor quarks would you like today? The good humor man is branching out.

You could redefine the charges on the quarks as whole numbers and the proton would be +3 and -3 for the electron.

it is plausible solution though also plausible that they are actually made of something smaller.

Then some quarks must also have negative fractional charge, right?

3 quarks each, and there characteristics, that they can choose from at real time adds up. To
