This video describes “The Breathing Light” - a table-top kinetic light design concept with calming effects. For its simple kinetics it received a Commendation Award from the InterPlay24 Design Competition of the Design Education Trust (UK). It is one of ten projects given Awards and these are available on the DET YouTube channel in the InterPlay24 Playlist. The competition was for 'kinetic design' only. The Award was not for the 3D form when static, nor for use of materials etc. The contention of the Competition is that ‘kinetic aesthetics', as an attribute of design, is undervalued and can offer both cultural enrichment to everyday objects and commercial value too for industry generally.
