Only on a couple of occasions but I have used phosphoric/hydrochloric acid rust-remover as flux for soft soldering stainless steel with success.

Very good video! Thanks for showing the contents of the flux bottle. I might have a try mixing some HCl with Zinc and use it as flux until the ordered stuff arrives.

Cool, try motor oil as flux (aluminum seems o work with it).

Woe is me! How to repair a pin hole in a stainless steel large stock pot I use for cooking and clothes dying? I need a food safe solder that is ok for high heat. Please anyone? Desperate. Costs too much to replace and is a great stock pot.
