We include a variety of programs in FreeDOS, so you can use FreeDOS the way you want to. And today, I wanted to show off two open source programs from FreeDOS 1.3RC2 that play music: OpenCP and MPlayer.

I play a sample WAV file that you can download from our FreeDOS files archive at ibiblio:

This finally puts an end to the "doss" "dee-oh-ess" flame wars

2:24 It's definitely a configuration thing, but for me it really sounds like it cuts the samples in half. 😮‍💨

A quick time-saving tip: Type one or two letters and press TAB to have FreeDOS fill in the rest. For example:

C:\> cd b
press TAB
C:\> cd BIGFNSH
press ENTER

Does the WAV file have those sound distortions in it or OpenCP didn't perform well in the virtual environment? I couldn't understand everything you said while the sound was playing. :) Or was it because dos32a behaves differently than dos4gw? I only used OpenCP on real hardware and it worked normally.
