I have been using it everyday (half dose in the morning) for 4 years and it changed my life in a great way. I have never had any side effects. My doctor warned me against using it for the very reasons you have listed and then did a fancy sales pitch for normal anti depressants. I really don’t want to be logged into the system where I become dependent on doctors visits to get my prescription… it’s natural, cheap, and it works wonders. I don’t really think it’s a danger if you are aware of what’s going on and pay attention to what you put in your body. This may change as I get older (I’m 31) and get to a point where I start needing to take other drugs, but for young people I think it’s a huge win.

I’ve taken many types of antidepressants over the years of trying to find something that would help me. I either had really bad side effects or the medication wasn’t effective. After my last baby, I developed really bad postpartum depression. My inability to do anything was terrible. I went from managing and keeping my head above water to a complete disinterest in life. I have no idea why or even how St. John’s wort work for me when so many other medications wouldn’t. All I know is for the first time it made me feel so much better. I detoxed from the antidepressant and never looked back. This plant along with regular exercise, therapy, and trying my best to eat clean has changed my life. They want us sick. I’m a firm believer in that now. The sicker we are the more money they can make feeding us pills. It shouldn’t be so hard to take care of ourselves.

Sounds to me like we should stop taking prescriptions and start taking natural supplements instead. St. John’s wort has done nothing but benefited me and my mental health and I’ve been taking it since I was a teenager.

I'm sorry, it doesn't sound like St.Johns wort has horrible side effects, it sounds like prescriptions are dangerous
Also pharmacists usually know more about this then doctors.

You’re did a lot of talking and said absolutely nothing. You didn’t state or identify the side effects or the potential “fatal damage” that St.Johns Wort could cause.

I use St Johns Wort for my Clinical depression and I find it works well as long as you don’t use it with prescription medication. I’m from the Caribbean so I grew up with my grandmother using herbs for many ailments. She didn’t believe in using man made medicine like she used to say when she was alive. I believe in using herbal medicine. I research every thing. I used to be a Certified Nursing Assistant so every thing I put in my body I researched it before I use it.

My doctor knows nothing about herbs, so that’s a dead end. I do agree that we need to research from reputable source when taking herbs.

Do you have the citation for the 2017 study? I would like to read that article. Thank you.

I'm kinda unsure why people are so mad at this video... I didn't get "St John's Wort BAD" from it, it was more like asking people to please acknowledge that natural medicines are still medicines, and be aware that they might interact with, say, heart meds or, I dunno, the pill or whatever.

Allied health and adding alternative medicine is supposed to work hand in hand. Why are doctors continually on an onslaught fighting over income/insurance of Americans. We already are dealing with chemicals on food are we not? So, why is it focus on our hard earned money than betterment of others. What spirit do y’all have caring for others??

I was hoping to learn something about St. John's Wort in this video. However, there were no specific examples of negative interactions between other foods or medications. While I understand the vague "CYA" (cover your ass) type talk...it does nothing to educate your viewers. I still don't know what it does, how it works, potentially dangerous interactions, or problems associated with St. John's Wort. Perhaps you can actually share this sort of info with us in a subsequent video? This felt like a tease. I got all geared up for no reveal. I'm hoping you might reply with real answers and solid info. Informing your viewers allows them to make more educated decisions. Such an obtuse approach only leaves the viewers with more questions and doubts. I'm not saying you don't have valid points or legitimate info regarding this subject... I'm saying you didn't share any of that with us. We are still in the dark. Thank you for understanding. I look forward to your reply.

The only thing I can tell you about St. Johns wort is that it can take over your yard. This stuff grows wild like crab grass. Its leaves look quite similar to oregano leaves. I’ve actually tasted it and it tastes nothing like oregano however. This plant has unfortunately taken over a part of my yard.

I’m coming off it after 2 months… didn’t help my anxiety or mood at all. Stopped suddenly as I assumed it’s just a herbal supplement. Apparently that’s not a good idea as it can cause nausea, dizziness, headaches and other side effects upon withdrawal.

I think doctors need to be aware of a person’s genetic variants before prescribing meds. My daughter was just recently prescribed 2 black box warning depression meds and she has excess dopamine in her prefrontal cortex- she also has an overactive amygdala

Bother the meds that were prescribed would not do well with her genetic makeup. Would love input.

First of all, I just found you on YouTube and you are absolutely beautiful! Soo... I am looking for information on St. John's Wort and men. My husband suffers from depression and anxiety when he is out in public. He is worried (as am I) about taking something that may affect his libido. Is St. John's Wort something that would affect that? 🤷🏻‍♀️
