No one can make his/her guitar wail like Gilmore. It's as if he squeezes tears outa his instruments. The lap steel is so haunting on this tune. I'm so fortunate to have been born in the 50's to experience, first hand, the greatest music that we will ever hear.

My interpretation of this magnificent song as said by another goes as follows. As children everything seems new and fresh (the grass was greener) as we get older friends and relationships come and go as do the dreams we all have for our lives. We give up our dreams for priorities (family, love) so as we give up on our dreams we are stuck in a melancholic state of mind. Some do not give up on their dreams but are still melancholic thinking of what else there could have been. Thanks to pink floyd and their amazing talent for pointing this out to me, something I always knew subconsciously. There will never be another band like the floyd.

This encapsulates pink Floyd fans PERFECTLY, The majority had probably never heard the division bell album thinking this is not a classic Floyd offering, however after David introduced high hopes you could hear a pin drop, not many bands can play a track live and sound better than the album MY GOD LISTEN TO THAT APPLAUSE!!!!, CAN I SAY WITHOUT BEING BIASED THE FANS NEVER EXPECTED THAT VOCAL INTRODUCTION BUT ONLY PINK FLOYD COULD MAJESTICALLY PROVE THEM WRONG, AND IN MY VERY HUMBLE OPINION THEY ARE MASTERS OF THE FABULOUS ART OF THEIR CHOSEN TRADE AND IM SURE IN MANY MANY YEARS POSSIBLY DECADES, HUNDREDS OF YEARS FORWARD INTO THE FUTURE THEY WILL STILL CONTINUE TO INFLUENCE MUSICIANS, THANKS TO ALL THE MIGHTY FLOYD UNIQUE GENIUSES AND TALENT ON A UNSURPASSED SCALE.. THANKS AND ESPECIALLY FOR BEING A MAJOR PART OF OUR LIVES AND FRIENDS SURROUNDED FOREVER AND EVER.
