The way David Gilmour is able to perfectly capsulate the core emotion of a song in its solo to register with the audience is phenomenal. Comfortably Numb's solo is psychedelic through and through, but has that uplifting feeling, like you know everything's going to be fine. The placebo of a pain pill or needleshot that the doctor gives you, telling you it'll be over soon. And then with High Hopes, that first bit has you flashing back to somewhere, a somewhat "unfamiliar" nostalgia. You've been there before but you can't remember where or when. Then you feel sad as you realise you're no longer as young as you once were. Now you're looking back and seeing how you've run your life, the melody goes up and then down, then slides back up to a peak in gradual steps as you reach your pinnacle of life. Then it sort of slows down and gets back low. Then there's the accompaniment played with the guitar once in synch and a second time but the guitar is late, you're slowing down, you're old. You're not as young as you once were. That's my interpretation at least.

I was in high school when this album came out. My friend Kevin Cramer would play it when we’d skip out at Lunch to get high. Thanks Kevin, it’s been one of my all time favorite albums since

This solo is the most beautiful ever created for a human being. Every time I hear it i get relaxed and euphoric at the same time and then cry.

Absolutely amazing, a simply fantastic rendition... I am so glad to see a young generation loving and playing this great music that is so emotionally moving for so many people. I saw Pink Floyd at CNE stadium in Toronto on July 5th, 1994. I was 18 years old. It was the single greatest spectacle I have ever witnessed and I wish there was a time machine that could take all the new fans back to 1994 so you all could be there to enjoy it.
