The grass was greener, the light was brighter, with friends surrounded, the Endless River, Forever and ever!!! My god this song just absolutely gets much better as i have aged through the years! I loved it since day1, but 30 years later its just pure bliss. Maybe the reflection of life, and the years passed thinking about the my journey and the many loved ones gone on their Endless River! MASTERPIECE is an understatement!

It's no secret that "Poles Apart" was aimed at Waters. Always felt as if this was a sort of a more positive - if not quite bittersweet - side to the same coin. As if to wrap up the whole legacy neatly, but leaving a door always ajar. "With friends surrounded..." so many references to a better time in all of their lives. Wonderful poetry from Sampson but really, all the pain and jubilance is in that slide solo.
