Donald F. Glut has been active in both the entertainment and publishing industries since 1966. Don has had a long and varied career. He has been a professional musician, actor, film director, executive producer, photographer, magazine editor, proofreader and (very briefly, for an advertising agency) copywriter, but is mostly known for his long career as a freelance writer. He has written and directed feature-length motion pictures, documentaries and music videos, authored approximately 80 fiction and non-fiction published books, myriad TV scripts (live action and animation shows, network and syndicated), comic-book scripts, short stories, magazine articles, even music and theatre. He has been involved with numerous popular franchises such as Star Wars, The Monkees, Tarzan, Spider-Man, Transformers, G.I. Joe, Vampirella, Masters of the Universe, The Flintstones, Jonny Quest and many others, and created original comic-book characters for Gold Key, Marvel and DC. Arguably Don is best known for his novelization of the second "Star Wars" movie The Empire Strikes Back (#1 Best Seller). Don currently executive-produces, writes and directs "traditional-style" horror for his company Pecosborn Productions, and writes scripts for The Creeps horror comics magazine. Also, he is a Southern California representative of Las Vegas Talent Agency. Note: Any motion picture titles that may be listed prior to Dinosaur Valley Girls (1997) are of amateur movies, the first of 41 of which Don Glut made when he was nine years old.

Great to see graphic novels represented.

Don is perhaps the most prolific living comic book writer. Heed his words! The bit about making the last panel on the bottom right be the "page turner" is deceptively simple, but so many writers miss it.

As a person who’s writing and illustrating a Noir comic, this helps a lot.

You don't have to mention the dinosaur skull in the background... but please, somebody... acknowledge the dinosaur skull!

@14:01-15:12 This story had me howling. For those who might not already know: Donald Glut's old friend from Jersey, Jim Steranko, is a famous comic-book artist/writer, in his own right. His runs on _Nick Fury: Agent of SHIELD_ and _Doctor Strange_ in the 1970s, have some of the most imaginative, inventive stories in comics. If you get the chance, definitely check out Steranko's work.

Anyways, just thought I'd share that. All the best, everybody.

I think it’s fascinating how a whole story usually blooms from imagining just one scene

Thank you so much for uploading a comic focused video, there´s a lot of videos on "How to draw comics" but very few in how to write them, as a Comic writer I´m so happy to watch this.

I hope to see more comics on the channel.

Hugs from Mexico

I like how he referred to Jim Steranko, one of the most innovative and exciting comic book artists of all time and only, as an escape artist!

I’ve been watching your videos for a while now to pick up writing tips for comics. Seeing you interview comic writers is a welcome addition.

Okay sure, but I guess no one is going to address the fact that he's sitting next to a bigass frickin' dinosaur skull?

Good interview. It's nice to hear from someone who actually understands how comic books work, rather than just seeing them as a way to get their movie greenlit.

Good to see someone representing (sorta) comics here. Now I want to see a game developer.

I am currently writing my first graphic novel and all tips and tutorials are welcomed. I may have made the mistake of creating a world too large and including way too many characters and way too many ideas. But I can't throw it away. I have to finish it. I've gathered so much information over the internet and most of it is good and helpful. But after a while of trying a couple of things I've learned is that you need a dedicated quiet space and you have to be consistent and work on it all the time for a long time.

When he said he had a friend who is an escape artist, I knew immediately he was talking about the great Jim Steranko. I had the pleasure of meeting the guy in 1990 something. He was a very cool dude. And a fantastic artist. He was the guy who did the original Nick fury agent of shield comics in the 1960s. Also, he is describing what is now called the golden age of comics from its inception in the 1930s to about 1955. Then we go into the silver age of comics which lasted until the mid 70s. The creators in the methods he’s describing are the basis for western now all those things have changed tremendously.
