Problem with rentals is you have to be able to cover their money cuz the mortgage is in your name if your on a tight budget already it’s not a good idea to basically co-sign for others

I live in California. We want to leave California but we are realistic about our goals. We only have 10k saved up. I called a real estate company they practically laughed at me at how much we had saved. All I wanted to know how much we qualified for. They said with that much saved pretty much nothing. We want to buy here only so we don’t have to keep paying the rent increase of 200 every year. It’s hard for anyone in middle class to buy anything. I asked about down payment assistance they told us they are non profit organizations that are hard to get into.
