Black is not a Really versatyle color, it's better to have a Navy Blue, a Grey and a cream or beige suit and a knitted red tie and a blue tie. About shoes; a medium Brown Penny loafers, Brown med-brown derbied Or blucherd and Black Cap Toe Oxford. About shirts; A white shirt, a light blue shirt and Even a stripes of Navy Blue and white shirt. About socks; a Navy Blue, a cream, a light blue and a red with Blue stripes. Those are the Best things You can first get.

Gentlemen, do NOT buy a black suit. It's too serious of a color and not versatile at all. Go with navy or charcoal

I wouldn’t recommend straight black as a first suit color. It’s too somber of a color. Charcoal gray, or dark navy are a lot more versatile. You can wear these two to a wedding, funeral, work, pretty much any formal event that isn’t black tie. IMO, your only black suit should be your tux, and even then you can have a tux in another color than just black.

Never start with a black suit. Unless you are in the funeral business. Perhaps different in the US or the Middle East, but in Europe you shouldn't. Also often looks cheap. Go Charcoal or dark blue. Very versatile. You don't have to spend too much but make sure it fits well; know your body shape, get the suit altered.
I recommend Suitsupply to our new young colleagues. Not too expensive but a solid start.

Don’t listen to him about a black suit as your first one. It shouldn’t be your first suit because it’s too formal and not very versatile.

Buy black suit only if you are a security guard or an undertaker. And no, black suit are not equivalent to smoking: you cannot wear it at your best friend wedding (just at his funeral).
Blue navy is perfect for office or formal cerimonies.
White shirts (no botton down) never fail, from office, to weddings, to casual dinners. As well as blue socks, black shoes and black belt.
Black tie as well, only if you are an undertaker. Prefer simple fantasies and buy good material: silk.
