looking to buy this 9th generation iPad to replace my mother's that no longer works and ipad is what she's familiar with she's 88 she will most likely only use it for web browsing, Facebook and checking her accounts does she need this apple pencil or will her generic soft tip pencils work since she has arthritis and unable to use her fingers well.

I just get the iPad 9th and I need the Apple Pencil. As you know my device is compatible with Apple Pencil gen1. But I like the features that the Apple Pencil gen2 has. So here is the question. Why I can not use the Apple Pencil 2 in my iPad 9th? I you see this model have the smart connector like the iPad Pro.

Does the Gen 1 pencil stick well with ipad Mini 6's magnetic connector?

(I have seen it stick to magnet so I am assuming it does but if you have it, you can confirm it and also gen 1 is cylindrical so may be it won't stick securely). Thanks!

PS: I have been able to charge the Gen 1 Pencil using my iPhone's lightning port so that is not an issue. The issue only is - whether it sticks well and secure enough?
