I can’t be the only one who wonders why Apple haven’t released this pencil in colors like black space grey and red yet

I tried the apple pencil in store today. The squeeze and motor feel really well, and the way they implemented the tool palet popup is VERY nice and easy to use.

As a creative, the consensus is NO the Apple Pencil Pro is not worth buying a new $800-1200 minimum iPad. Not to mention the pencil itself is an additional $120. Here’s the thing, if you are a creative who has used a drawing or screen tablet since 2004, you had ALL of these features in most drawing stylus. The only eyes Apple is pulling the wool over in this case are the Apple-stans. Yeah squeeze menu and barrel roll can be very useful for creatives… but not necessary at this point. The idea of saving a few taps eventually saves you hours of production time doesn’t really appeal to creatives because most of us don’t even use the shortcut buttons on our Wacom/ XP-PEN/ Huion display. We are actually faster using keyboard shortcuts.

It would be great that other software developers implement the pop-up menu in their programs. That has the potential to be a huge time saver and great option. More than just the drawing programs. Video editing is what I was thinking of and that can go for DAWs also. The possibilities are endless.

Darrell Roll: I dont know if it already does this. For NON graphic artists, I can see a TON of uses. ONE in particular could apply many different types of apps: Treat Barrell Roll like a dial to fine tune levels.
Edting/Trimming: Squeeze the pencil and select the end of a clip. Contextual menu shows up for Edit type. After selecting type, you can fine tune the cut/trim w Barrell Roll to trim 1 frame at a time. This would be MUCH easier, quicker and more precise. HAPTICs can simulate a click for each frame moved. This alone would make editing on iPad better than laptop or desktop - track pad, mouse or function keys can be clunky. A barrel roll can act and feel with sensation similar to dial or click wheel. Speed can impact amount of adjustment.
Scroll: Use barrel roll for scrolling - web pages, lists - numbers, dates, etc. Haptics apply just like they would for the click wheel of the iPod.
LEVELS: Volume, Brightness, Hue, etc etc, Again, You see the idea, more accurate fine tuning and fluidity and feedback.
Zoom: Squeeze (maybe there could even be a double squeeze, like double tap?) to select zoom, barrel roll to zoom in or out
Selection: In Numbers, or finder or other places, once in selection mode, you can fine tune just like what was explained above. This iwould be best when the selection goes beyond what is visibliy seen on the page. While you could currently drag down to the bottom of the screen, this can be clunky at times, and often the system misreads the amount you want to scroll/select.

That is just immediate shouts for use cases, for non graphic artists. Without really putting much effort in. There are bounds to be a ton more. But many of these can be used system wide.

The haptic feedback is great! I just purchased one today.

I'm concerned with accidental squeezes. Can you share your experience with it?

Can we get another comparison between MacBook pro air and iPad

It would be cool if you could use the squeeze feature for moving to the next slide in a slideshow on canva or powerpoint.

They need to make it possible to turn off the barrel roll feature. It suuuucks when using the fountain pen tool in Freeform. When the angle is wrong, I have to spend time correcting it and it ruins my flow. Either the gyroscope is inaccurate, too sensitive, or I can’t hold my pencil consistently. It’s probably all three reasons. As cool as the squeeze and haptics are, I’ve put my Apple Pencil Pro away in favor of my USB-C pencil (which supports hover on iPad Pro) and is compatible with all 3 iPads I own (mini 6, iPad 10th gen and my new M4 Pro)

I don’t mind remapping the double tap on the pencil 2nd gen to trigger the quick tool selection.

Did you use this with the iPad Pro or Air? Does the Air have delay because of the 60hz refresh rate?

So far, I am really enjoying the Apple Pencil Pro, but it has not paired with defined me app and I can’t figure out how to get it to do so

Just wondering if you’re showing features in procreate that are in beta. I’m dying to put these into action!

Isn’t the find my support simply like the MagSafe wallets? Like, it just tells you where it was last disconnect? You’d know it was at home, but you couldn’t precision find it to your closest.

The worry I have with the twist is for artists. I twist my pencil A LOT just while drawing. To the point my pencil tips come unscrewed. Like is it now going to feel unnatural because I can’t use it like a traditional pencil anymore?
