As first time user of a pencil for my iPad, now that I have just upgraded to the new iPad Air 13 M2, I have broke the bank and got the Apple Pencil Pro and have just viewed this video.
One really basic question is, what is the app you are using about a third into your presentation that shows the different brushes & pens at the bottom of the screen please.
I already have Procreate but that doesn’t resemble that.
I have also subscribed to your channel, as being nearly 80, I am what you call a late learner.

Very cool pencil but the find my isn’t very interesting…
That could be added on any pencil with a software update because it’s only give the position of the iPad the last time the pencil was connected. And to detect the proximity it’s simply using Bluetooth strength of the connection…
I was hoping to be really able to detect it like an AirTag but no. There is no hardware change for that specific point and that seems impossible to have an improvement with a software update in that case.
Even a left behind feature isn’t possible as if you use a case for the transport the pencil isn’t connected to the iPad so the pencil will be detected as left behind.
The only improvement possible is that the location was given if the pencil is in the Bluetooth range of the iPad to make a left behind possible.

Great review, thank you. I’ve just ordered the 2024 IPad along with pencil. However, one has to be a real idiot (kept my language slight), if you lose your pencil. The first place I will look is in the crevice of my sofa!

I’m hoping for an Apple Pencil 3 or a Pro version for the other iPads (surely this will be confusing to some so it’s unlikely). I love the new features of this new Apple Pencil but the fact that I need their new tablets is really disappointing. I will wait until I eventually upgrade to a future iPad Pro but not anytime soon.

Yes he to spend $219 for the new pencil. Went with the 13 from my 11 pro. Think I should have just stayed with the 11.

You cannot turn the barrel roll function off and it is annoying. I like the fountain pen tool in freeform because it resembles the chisel tip of a dry erase marker at the “usual” angle. If you move your hand slightly with the pro pencil, the angle is thrown off. I love the squeeze gestures and haptics but I find myself using my usb-c pencil more than my pro because of this barrel roll issue. I hope they allow this setting change in a future update.

Double checking what you said about Procreate support for Apple Pencil Pro. From what I can see the current production release does NOT support features like squeeze-for-menu and barrell roll. Are you using a Procreate beta release? Note: these new features do work, as you noted, with Apple provided apps like Notes and Freeform

The Apple Pencil 2nd gen won’t work with the new iPad Air and Pro either. Only the pro and USBC.

can you demo the radial undo gesture? Maybe you have to hold on the undo back icon? I'm not sure only just heard about it.
