Whenever I test a three-row SUV, usually the first thing I do is fold down that third row. I can’t remember the last time I carried enough passengers to need them, and with that row down, I usually get more cargo space than in a two-row. And the Mazda CX-70, an all-new model for 2025, fills the bill for that.

Basically, it’s a three-row Mazda CX-90 without that third row of chairs, replaced solely with cargo space instead. If you don’t want that extra row, the CX-70 means you’re not paying for those seats nor carrying their weight around.

This car is truly excellent. All I can say is the pictures and videos don't do it justice. The transmission is not jerky, its different like all cars are different.

I prefer the black exterior trim over the chrome of the CX-90, prefer the interior of the CX-90. Mazda missed the boat twice here. They should have moved the battery pack back into the cargo area more, and moved the 2nd row seats both back a couple inches and down, rsulting in both more headroom and legroom for the 2nd row. Also, they should slim down the center console, the driver's and front passenger's footwells are unnecessarily tight.
