I chose the CX70 specifically because it DOESN'T have a third row. I simply don't need or want a 3 row SUV. I don't care if it costs the same as CX90. I like the exterior styling better and it's fits my needs better. I wonder if the engine in the car you tested had an issue. For me, the engine is sublimely smooth. I'm not aware of shifts, even when first started. It's powerful, smooth and to me, sounds great. I do agree the center console is larger than it needs to be as my right leg, rests against it, but it's not uncomfortable. And every reviewer makes the same claim about the cup holders in the cargo area as being the same as a CX90. They aren't the same. They aren't cup holders at all. What one might use them for, I don't know, but please be aware, they are different then the cup holders in the 90.

I must have recently driven a different CX-70 Turbo S. It was hands down one of the best driving experiences in a long time. It pulled smooth and hard.

My wife and I just picked up the premium plus trim CX 70 . She traded in her CX5 (also a great vehicle) . We received loyalty cash and a lot of rebates totaling over 4700 dollars, it was priced around 54, 000 . She absolutely loves the vehicle, as do I. For the price after rebates and it being brand new with the premium interior/ tec/ and on the sporty side .. I’ll ride with Mazda on this one.

I chose the CX-70 over the Cx-90 as I didn't need or want a 3rd row and preferred the bench seat in 2nd row to Captain's chairs. (5 adults in the main cabin vs. a cramped 3rd row seating was a really important feature for me.) Also, preferred the larger cargo to a CX-5/Cx-50 and noticed that with the 3rd row stowed in the Cx-90 cargo space wasn't completely flat. (Last car was the CX-5 and if the PHEV had been available may have stayed with that).

This is, by far, the most negative review of the CX-70 that I have seen and I watch as many of these YouTube video reviews as I can. I traded my 2023 CX-9 for the CX-70 Turbo Premium S and I absolutely love it. Comparing this to the Santa Fe is about as strange a comparison as I could imagine. I drove a lot of cars before I bought my CX-9 and the same with the CX-70. In my opinion - for the money - nothing comes close to the styling, premium interior materials, fit and finish, driving dynamics, etc. And, as an aside, I'm getting 30 mpg on the highway even while driving at 70-80 mph. Like I said, I love this car.

I got the base trim CX-90 and paid well under 40K. The dealer even took $750 off MSRP and I got 1.9% APR for 72 months. I don’t need a third row so I just keep the third row down all the time but it’s there if I should need it. The base trim does come with many standard features. Overall, happy with my purchase.

Santa Fe is not in the same level as this car and shouldn't be compared to it.

The highest trim 90s don’t offer a 2nd row bench, so if you want the goodies, but don’t need a third row, you’re basically buying a four-seater.

I have four dogs and so the CX 70 makes a lot more sense to me as I need flat storage space for crates and dogs in the back.

Hi guys, I enjoyed your video. I recently purchased a CX-70 Turbo S Premium Plus. I love it. Yes, it is just a CX-90 without the third row. It is big for a dedicated 2 row. But that is what sets it apart. I'm good without the third row. Three rows have a bit of a mini-van vibe to them. I'm cool without the third row. I'm 6'3", 240 lbs and don't find the front seat cramped at all. As you guys mentioned, the interior is incredible. It is what sold me on the vehicle. I used one as a loaner, and said to myself, several times actually, "oh, this isn't good." Not good because I had to have one. Hadn't planned on getting rid of my 11 year old Mazda 6 iGT. But, I bought one. I don't think the ride is rough at all. And, as you mentioned, , it makes it very solid in the handling department. The materials are great, soft touches everywhere. The IP is reconfigurable if you change a few settings. I don't think you guys mentioned how moving the Mi-Drive into Sport mode changes some instrumentation to a red hue. The heads up display has tons of information available, including directions if you use the native nav system. I don't think you mentioned the 3 storage compartment under the floor. The way back one, with the molded plastic, then one where the third row would have been, and one closer to the second row of seats. The i-stop feature can be turned off. That helps with much of what you talk about with off the line feel. I agree, with it on there is a little hesitation. I'm not sure how that feature works on other vehicles in class, but a one touch button to defeat it is much better than some other vehicles I have had, a 2018 Traverse, that needed nine button pushes to defeat it. I agree that not having cooled second row seats is crazy stupid, especially when you can get it on the CX-90. Also a little annoying is the fact that I have to click on my name every time I get in to access personalized settings. You'd think that would be synched with key fob. The hatch does open every time if you know where to kick.
I love the vehicle, and would recommend it. My ex-wife just bought a CX-90 based on my recommendation.

Bought the CX-70 3.3 PP. Kids are out of the house so no need for 3rd row, the added storage very useful for tools, accessories, etc.as we do a lot of offsite work. I don't think this has been noted: the straight-six, and long wheelbase makes it an excellent long haul cruiser and tow vehicle. We do 900+ mile road trips regularly, often towing a boat, or utility trailer, best SUV so far compared to Audi Q7s and Honda Pilots we previously owned. Your Santa Fe doesn't cut it here. Maybe a niche, but NOT shortening the wheelbase as did Honda and VW with there 3-row platforms is a big difference maker for us. Thank you for the review.

We traded in our 2021 CX-30 AWD GT Turbo last week. I loved that car. No issues over the past 4 years. Moving up to a new 2025 CX-70 MHEV GT-P Turbo Signature, (I'm in Canada) will arrive in four weeks. Just the look of the CX-70 had me sold. I've been watching all these reviews all week. The best way to add to the discussion and this is my opinion for what it's worth. The CX-70 is a "Bentley-like" classy vehicle that I could not afford to buy but I will feel like I've got one now. All the other brands did not excite me in any way. I looked at all of them. Thanks for your review. Cheers. 👍

CX70 is the shizz. The inline 6 is incredibly smooth (after all the recalls done on the CX90) and has lots of torque at low RPM Not sure how you guys got the lack of power under 2500RPM. If i floor it it moves and it sounds very nice especially when the turbo kicks in. Guess it's a personal preference and bias, It is not a sports car it's a huge 3 row SUV.The way it drives and handles puts to shame most of the 3 row SUVs in this segment, It makes SantaFe looking like a delivery truck honestly

thanks for the review. just a small thought about the extra storage space that you mentioned, i always carry emergency blankets, umbrellas, jackets, etc... just in case; summer and winter...that would be the perfect storage area and out of the way.

A genuine question for @dwnshft, are you guys car enthusiasts, because you certainly don't sound like it in this video?

Comparing the cargo capacity and interior space of a primary front drive transverse engine platform (Santa Fe) to a rear wheel drive biased longitudinal inline 6 platform (Mazda CX70) without acknowledging the inherent disadvantages of the longitudinal rear drive architecture when it comes to interior space / cargo space is quite disappointing, especially if you would consider yourselves car guys.

Also, since you brought it up. The new Mazda 8-speed is not a traditional torgue converter automatic. It is a dual clutch automation. The BMW X5 has a ZF 8 speed torque converter automatic. A DCT isn't normally as smooth as a torgue converter automatic. And overtime I'm sure Mazda will try to tweak it and make it as smooth as a DCT can be.

Like others, I find the third row irrelevant. I tried to use the one in the CX-90 and have concluded you could get 4 jockeys in the back two rows or use the 3rd row for baby seats. On the cubby hidden away in the CX-70, Love it! Great pace for receiver hitches to be kept, along with ratchet straps and other towing accessories.

I love both the CX90 and the CX70; I would take the CX70 because I don't need a third row, and 65 % of the time, I don't need the second row. But the deal breaker for me is the center counter; it rubs against your right knee and leg. On long rides, it gets painful and annoying.

I just brought a cx70 2 weeks ago reason to pick it over a cx90 i don't need a 3rd row i do use the storage underneath the seats. First it's a 2025 model 2nd it look sportier then a 90 3rd color combination i got poly Grey with red interior 4th you get cooled seats with premium trim 5th it has Alexa the cx70 is in the top of its class for 5 passengers SUVs what other car has over 300hp rwd bias with awd 40 cubic feet of storage 25 mpg average under 55k fully loaded name me one

CX-70 is a more sporty model than the CX-90. The trim is body color painted in the CX-70 versus the CX-90 and different body trim and wheels. I believe the suspension is different config on the CX-70 and it has some sexy colors not available in the CX-90. I don't need a 3rd row and I prefer the overall look of the CX-70 to the CX-90 so that is what I'd buy. I don't think the Hyundai even compares to this from a interior finish, features, sportiness and quality perspective. Of course, the Santa Fe has a 4 cylinder engine which lack refinement and performance of the CX-70's 3.3litre inline 6 cylinder which is so smooth. Of course it will be cheaper!
