Eric Cole died from being run over by a police cruiser driven by Springfield, Ohio officer Amanda Rosales after he called 911 as a response of being shot in a domestic dispute. Dr. Rashad Richey and Jessica Burbank discuss on Indisputable. Tell us what you think in the comments below.

"The family of Eric Cole, a Black man who died after being run over by a police cruiser, has filed a civil lawsuit against the Springfield, Ohio, police officer who was behind the wheel and two dispatchers who improperly relayed messages about him before he was struck.

Cole called 911 after he was shot and lying in the street following a domestic dispute in June 2021 but instead of helping the man, Springfield officer Amanda Rosales ran him over with her city-issued police SUV."

I’ve been stabbed and didn’t call the police. In New York City we know better. I called the ambulance and was escorted to the front of the park by gang members who chased the man away. Because of these so called bad guys I got to the hospital safely and they surrounded me to protect me. God bless them.

I’m a Puerto Rican single father of two children. I’m literally in tears right now. My heart hurts for his son and mother. What is wrong with people? The police were supposed to inform the medics of the situation. This goes beyond negligence if you really think about it.

If a citizen ran into an officer on the side of a highway you know they wouldn't be calling it an accident!

She wasn't even tested for drugs or alcohol.

This is awful. She got paid for a year after killing an injured person!?! This is baffling!!! This angers me so I can't imagine what his poor family is going through. Heartbreaking.

What was she looking at? Her car lights clearly show a man lying in the street! She didn't even swerve.

The lack of humanity and decency is sickening. ‘The people’ are supposed to be apart of the “checks and balances” that supposedly make this country/society so great. The negligence is palpable.
Thank you, Doc for trying to be part of the solution.

The DA should lose his law license for ignoring the death of Cole. She knew exactly what she was doing, not stopping to render aid in a hit and run, and ignoring the body she saw in the road. Manslaughter, just like Dean who killed Atatiana Jackson, 15 years in prison.

Black Janitor face charges for recording, but a White Officer gets away with running a black man over???!

Obviously she felt the impact of running him over. She made the decision to not tell EMS she ran him over, causing him to die.
She needs to be charged!

How on earth do you not SEE THE GUY LYING IN THE STREET, and just drive right over him?

If that cop couldn't see his body in the road she shouldn't be driving.

The incompetence of the people we have working as police officers in the United States. Today is absolutely disgusting.

Dr. Richey, once upon a time I was an EMT working my way through college. Years later, I taught First Aid and CPR for first responders. Further, my career led me to work for a number of years in health care, and hospitals. All too often, we see tragic medical outcomes from emergency transport of citizens, whether victims of crime or accident, or alleged offenders, based on inadequate, inaccurate emergency care by first responding medical personnel. Over and over, we hear the excuse, "Gosh, we didn't know about the problem, so-and-so (whether patient, police, or bystanders) didn't tell us! We just transported, treating for whatever the officers told us was wrong!" Sir, that's not how emergency care is supposed to work! The First Step, after assuring safety, is "Assessment". You scan the body, front and back, looking (quickly) for wounds or other critical signs. How do medical professionals... EMT's or Paramedics... lift and transport a patient with a GSW in the arm, without noticing that... by the way... he's also been run over by an SUV? How do you do that? I don't find, "Gosh, the cops didn't tell us they ran him over..." to be a terribly satisfying response. His care and custody was handed off from police on the scene, to medical workers, and in this case, that was shameful. I appreciate your program and work very much. Thank you.
