I am 77 years old and have been playing golf for 10 years. I typically do not break 100. I have had so many instructors and have watched so many videos and I have not been able to improve my game. I discovered this web site and watched Rick Shiels guide and a few other of his videos. I practiced twice on the range. Today I played a round of golf and shot 86. Rick Shiels is by far the best golf instructor and he didn't cost me a penny. I am American and visit England often. My daughter lives in Surrey but I would love to take a lesson from you some day and shake your hand. Jack Kelly

I had to come here today and comment.
So ... I've always been a high handicapper and actually stopped playing in 2005. In the past 14 years I might have played 6 rounds total. I decided to pick the game back up this year. I bought Taylormade MCBG irons, used driver, 3W, a couple of hybrids and wedges and set out. I played poorly (as expected) in my first 4 rounds and a friend turned me on to your channel. I watched this series last week and took mental notes. I hit a solid bucket on the range yesterday making consistent contact. Today, I went out and played the best round of my life, shooting a legit 85 on a par 72 course! This series is amazing sir. Thank you!

Rick, I wanted to thank you and share a story. On Father's Day, my family and i traveled from Colorado to Utah to visit my brother in law and his family. They live on a gold course and he took me to play golf for my first time ever! We didn't get time to hit the driving range so he had to show me how to hold the club and thats about it but I had the best time of my life. Just him and I enjoying a beautiful morning together with a couple of cigars. It was great and I was hooked! When I got back to Colorado, the first thing I did was ask my other brother in law if I could buy his old set since he can't play anymore. Got the clubs and went straight to the driving range. I've had no instruction other than people at the range. Ive lost 74 lbs since then. Im fitter than I've been since I left the Army. I ran across your videos and was hooked! I watched and was like, yup, I do that wrong and that wrong and that wrong. I watched these series and they've helped me tremendously. It is very awkward when I stand correctly. I realized that it should feel awkward and not comfortable, which is the way I was setting up. Hands in the wrong place, swinging back with my arms and shoulders and not my body. Like everything. The last few days I've been hitting much straighter and even picked up a ball that was right at my 300 yard marker! Thanks Rick!!!! Awesome videos!! Steve

Hey Rick, I just want to thank you for this video. I was teaching my wife to swing. I let her do her own thing for a couple of lessons with me. Just basics and swinging the club without any real detailed explanation. Then I let her watch your series and it made a huge difference with her swing after. Just turned 50 and decided that now I'm old I should learn to play golf 😁
After a quick search I found this channel and it is hands down the best resource I've found so far. Rick just has a natural presentation style and personable manner that makes you want to pay attention.
So I went down to my local thrift store and bought a couple of irons and wedges for $20 total, and some practice balls and in a week have already learned how to hit them onto my roof from the back yard with a sand wedge 🤣 And after my second visit to the driving range there is a noticeable improvement. I've gone from being able to hit about 1 in 5 balls to about 1 in 2 🤣🤣🤣

Brilliant! Rick is a very good golfer but an even better teacher. His concise language, sophisticated graphics and appealing personality combine to create the most informative and easily digestible instructional videos on the internet. (It’s not easy, as many experienced golf pros have tried and failed) Just brilliant!

I found this series a little late, but just watched the entire videos, and really enjoyed them. You give simple, and easy to understand tips and advice. Made the entire swing easier to understand, especially the backswing and followthrough. Thank you.
