The Safe, Simple, and Easy Way To Open A Young Coconut

Opening coconuts can be dangerous. In the past I've used a lot of force with machetes and large knives, and even power tools to open coconuts. Not only was this messy, but also dangerous. I was afraid for the safety of my fingers.

However, just recently, I learned the safe way to open a coconut that does not require brute force, minimizes the mess, and keeps your fingers safe. This video shows you how.

This was a great walkthrough. The how-to on the side of my drinkin' young coconut omitted the part where you had to smash through the shell. Might get another some day far from now (coconut water is sterile btw; our medics used in the PTO in WWII for infusion of wounded. It's like drinking Ringer's lactate!)
