Why did God need Jesus to forgive us? wouldn't it have been easier if he just said we're forgiven?

When you say god needs to do anything you’re limiting his power, love or knowledge not to mention the bible states god is perfect so we can’t do anything to diminish his greatness so why can’t he just forgive it won’t diminish him in anyway. Being a good judge and being benevolent is an oxymoron because a just judge doesn’t pay a fine you owe that unjust. If our actions can’t hurt him in anyway why can’t he forgive. Punishing someone else for the crimes of others is the definition of injustice. You have to do a tone of mental gymnastics in order to believe that god is benevolent, perfect and a just judge.

I believe god gave man a choice to ether be under in god's kingdom with his rules or be king of his own which causes suffering to most people. That's why the Christ came to show man that he has a choice of reaching that kingdom again by living and dieing like Jesus not as a king but as a servant of God sucrificing in this life to have in the next that's why we wear crosses as a symbol each carring our own cross as he did in his final day and he rose from the dead not only to prove he's god but mostly to show the result of that sucrifice life again so life in an option given out of his love not a debt that needed to be paid we chose death but he hurt himself for we wouldn't listen otherwise that we can also choose life. That's how i see it i believe all good people will be saved even non Christians.

Love the Goku in the back. This question is one that Im still not settled on. Could you share any scripture that could shed light on/support this notion of moral debt and how it functions?

I agree with you argument. What would you say to someone who says "God is God. He is omnipotent (along with His other atributes)". Why would you say God "can't" just do this and that when He is indeed God? I know He can't make a square circle within the laws of the universe but I'm not talking about absurdities.

People go through way worst than god. God doesnt go through anything. If he demand us to forgive someone without blood sacrifice so he should forgive us without blood sacrifice.

I want to believe in Jesus so badly. I have tried everything. I'm scared of dying in unbelief if Jesus did actually die for our sins, but I can't get faith no matter how hard I try. I try to read the Bible. I have heard all the arguments for Christianity and I don't find them persuasive. I don't want to sin, I'm not angry at God, or any of tge other reasons Christians often assume people don't believe. I believe in a God, but I find pabentheism and Reincarnation more believable. I've been praying the sinners prayer and for Jesus to show me if he is God, but I still get no answer

Thanks for trying to help but from my orthodox point of view the conclusion that god needs someone to be killed as a sucrifice because we broke the law and a debt has to be paid for him to love us is heretical and misleading and believing that he did this for us sends us to paradise very convenien.

How does it make any difference between the judge just forgiving and the judge paying the fine, especially if the judge has infinite money?

Than, I still don't understand the whole christian idea of Jesus. We're imperfect, biological creatures that were supposedly created by this deity, but then this deity turns around and says to us, "I condemn you for being imperfect, biological creatures!!!" It makes no sense to a thinking person.

Do you believe in penal substitutionary atonement?

But...Jesus died a physical death. We still do as well. Sin puts us deserving of hell. Jesus ascended to heaven. He doesnt sit in hell. So what is the debt he actually paid?

From the standpoint of God, redemption is not necessary; everyone is already forgiven from on high.

Jesus' teachings on forgiveness is about forgiving ourselves and others, so that we can move on and not remain stuck in a pain of the past.

Jesus did not come to redeem humanity from Satan, that would required Jesus to annihilate Satan; who is perfectly designed to do what he does.

Even if Satan could be annihilated, Jesus would not annihilate what God created.

Jesus came to teach humanity how to free themselves, to teach humanity how to conquer Satan and return to Love.

Satan, through the voice in our head, tempts us to go against our divine nature; to go against Love.

Satan, through the voice in our head, tempts us to act selfishly and short-sightedly to do what is in his self-interest; rather than what is best for the whole to which we are intimately and inextricably connected.

When we go against the whole and harm others, we also harm ourselves.

Sin is like hitting ourselves, because we also suffer when we cause others to suffer.

This is one of humanity's primary lessons. Which is why: do unto others as you would have them do unto you, work so well as a guideline.
