What’s sad is these foreigners are extremely valuable to Japan in a global economy who take the time to learn their culture and language but they don’t seem to have any place for them within their society in any professional capacity outside of language tutoring and entertainment. Translation is becoming easier with AI so there’s less reason to move there unless you’re married somehow?

best of luck to her in finding what'll make her happy.
She should be proud of the results of her study in Japanese.

BTW, did she study the 1 1/2 yrs in Australia or when she got to Japan?

I agree. My industry is Design, they need real born there foreigner as they want someone that understands them or way they work. Because they feel if the foreigner cant convey message well to japanese local contractors, the foreigner will just end up screwing up even a simple job. But when Japanese go overseas, they had to make sure foreign contractors get it right to do as their requirement, but foreigners cant understand them well too 😂. The japanese i bet they will be scolded once back in Japan . So Why not compromise.. it shouldnt always be language as priority .

N2 is required if you don't have special skills. Otherwise if you are an AI, IT, Robotics expert, N3 is enough for Japanese company with english speaking team lead, and Japanese not required at all if its MNC

What does N2 translate to? Is it like B2 or higher?

Teaching ppl to speak like her English is hard for the ears 😂 in English you’re supposed to pronounce all the “r” and she uses no R.
