The whole reason my parents taught me Japanese was so I could be the translator of the family when we lived in Japan 😭😭

My mom took Japanese in high school. When she got in trouble, the teacher would make her write in Kanji. The teacher didn't know my mom was Chinese💀

I’m Japanese and In public we only use about 3000 kanji. The other 47000 are just one part of 1 kanji or the hard version, or a word that we usually don’t use normally.

Keigo is the levels of politeness and it’s what I’m stuck on

I think learning Japanese is more fun this way, we can't get bored, we always have something to learn about it which is pretty interesting and engaging.

I think the hardest part of Japanese is the multiple readings. Kanji is hard, yes, but it really is just a form of memorizing. It's the same as remembering whole words in English. But unlike English, you can't just look at it and know how to say it!

And yes, Keigo is so hard 😭

Keigo is a polite way to talk in Japanese. Basically a whole different language but with the same words. It’s harder than you think

Edit: thx for 1k likes

I know Japanese is really hard, but that’s why I want to learn it.

If people didn’t know, Keigo means “honorifics” in Japanese!

Keigo is a FORMAL FORM of japanese, mainly used for those older than you or of higher status. And also there are 50, 000 kanji but most people only use 2000 - 5000. The other two alphabets are katakana and hiragana, but they are really easy and hiragana is the most common with 46 characters + dakuten/handakuten. (same with katakana but theyre only used for lone words and foreign words such as Amerika or keyboard.)

I also wanna point out there is kinda 4 alphabets if you include romaji (which i did when i was learning)

I'll say that studying Japanese for one and a half years was worth it

I’m Japanese, don’t get scared of the amount of kanji’s he mentioned. Only 1945 kanjis you need to learn and they are called 常用漢字. That cover 96.4 percent of your daily use kanji. And there are rarely any kanji with 50 ways of reading it. I can’t even think of one at the moment. He is just exaggerating aaahh

I have accepted this as a challenge, I am going to start learning Japanese. If I remember I will update on my progress in 6 moths - 1 year.

Video's nothing but more motivation, one of the biggest reasons I'm learning is to prove to myself that I can do it.
