Many people blaming the USA anchor woman, but what I see is Felix losing a huge advantage, she was actually the weakest leg! It is what it is!

Femke is on fire!!! Looking forward to the 400 hurdles. Of course Sydney is the favorite, since she ran her brilliant races. BUT, to everyone who still sleeps on Femke Bol, though we just had a glimpse of her formidable speed in the 4x400 mixed relay: Femke is not only a bit younger than Sydney, but she’s also relatively new in the 400 hurdles (no times registered before 2019, while Sydney was already an Olympian in 2016). Despite Sydney’s progress, the gap has quite diminished.
2018: 53.60 vs (no time under 57.30 registered for Femke) gap is over 3.70 sec.)
2019: 52.23 vs 55.32 gap is 3.09 sec.
2020: 52.23 vs 53.79 gap is 1.56 sec.
2021: 51.46 vs 52.03 gap is 0.57 sec.
There’s no saying where this will lead to. Anyway, we’re in for a treat. (It’s so unique that the top 3 of all time will be competing in the same race). Thrilled to be seeing all three great athletes, Delilah, Femke and Sydney, race in the final.

🏁🥇⚡🏃‍♀🏃‍♀🏃‍♂🏃‍♂🙏 Gracias Dios Mio, Dominican Republic No. 1, Platano Power !!

After reading so many complaints about the U.S.mixed relay team, I decided to share my theory for why the U.S. fielded the team it did. This race was created to allow smaller countries to have a team in a WC relay. Some countries don't have the talent to field a championship quality team of 4 men or 4 women for the traditional relays. But some of those countries may be able to field a decent team of 2 men and 2 women.

There were two rule changes to the mixed relay this year. The second rule change and the one that supports my original point, states a relay team could only substitute ONE runner in the final from the team that it ran in prelims. That rule was put in to prevent countries loaded with talent from switching out their whole team in the final (as the U.S. did in the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games) and running a fresh team against "tired" competitors. It also meant that at least 3/4 of your team would have to race TWO 400-meter races. That would discourage some big teams from committing a star to race other than in the final.

I am explaining all of this because I have seen a lot of speculation and anger about why the U.S. chose the team that they did. I have also read the blame of U.S. coaches for not switching out other 400m stars to race with Allyson Felix. I think a lot of people didn't know about the ONE switch rule. I hope this explanation helps to calm people down.

Team USA and NBC wanted to see Felix race in the FINAL for her last chance to win a medal. The U.S. team's fate was sealed when Felix didn't run in the prelims. Once Felix was put in the final, our ONE switch was done. That meant the U.S. couldn't add anyone else and their time would only improve slightly by replacing Jonathas with Felix. That also let other teams estimate what time it would take to beat the U.S. by bringing in a star performer. The Netherlands knew Bol could run sub 49 seconds and would only have to run ONE race for a good chance of a relay gold medal.

The rest of the world doesn't want to see the U.S. win everything and I believe the U.S. will continue to use their weaker 400 runners for this event in the future. This allows our younger, collegiate athletes to gain international championship experience while also keeping this relay competitive for ALL participants and exciting for fans. The U.S. team recognizes this race is an opportunity for smaller countries and will respectfully treat it that way.

Allison Felix deserves a farewell gold - Sydney should have been the last runner

They should have kept Jonathan instead of Simon. I've always said Felix glides down the back straight.

US coaches are to blame, they have the best 4x400m men and women, why didn't they take Athing Mu or Steiner to finish..stupid coaches.
