Imagine running a 47.7 last leg in the 4x400 in a high school meet and getting hawked.

The Desoto kid on the last leg was no slouch... which makes this even more impressive.

Okay I mean his 44.74 is cool and all but let’s give it up for the dude that managed to get an unofficial time within one hundredth of a second of the real time

“Very unofficial 44.73”

44.7 split in high school is magnificent! The young man is blessed with abilities few have this early. I hope he continues. His future is bright.

This dude is straight up gifted. He can run the 100, 200 & 400 like a boss! Hopefully, he stays injury-free because we could be looking at America's next great track superstar!

The 4x400 is the track race to end all races. Too long to sprint, too short to pace, yet somehow balls to the wall. It’s a race for young men.

I have watched this 50 times and I simply can't believe what I just saw. Having run that event in high school I know that to make up 3 seconds against a 47.7 is nearly impossible. You just witnessed the most improbably comeback I have ever seen. It is a phenomenal performance and the courage to push to your limit is not to be taken lightly. Remember he is not racing against someone that is slow. That is the anchor relay man for one of the fastest teams in the country. What you are witnessing is pure athletic ability in the most basic form. These kids are great but watching Matt Boling run is an absolute privileged. I am in awe of it.

We won this event at TX state meet in ‘75 with a time of 3:26.... 39 years later the kids run 3:11.... That’s almost 4 seconds faster per leg. These kids today are so fast and so well conditioned - fun to watch! Boling - wow...

My kid dragged me to a high school track meet. I know nothing about the sport and saw this guy run. It almost looked "fake" he was running so fast. I've never seen anything like it.

I'm nearly 70 years old, and that is one of the greatest and most inspiring physical efforts I've ever witnessed by a human being.

Matthew Boling is without a doubt the greatest all around sprinter in US high school history.

As a former track coach, it is amazing to watch Boling make that up. He did not panic as he did not gain much ground through the first 200 m. His curve is impressive and his acceleration over the last 100 meters is insane. Certainly a most impressive performance and, barring injury, we should be hearing a lot of this young man in the next 10 years.
