we were always taught to trust the person behind you, not look back, and just hold your left hand out. Once the person behind you got close enough she would say my name which was my sign to start sprinting before she passed me the baton.

I ran track and field for 8 years. They stagger you according to who's first to last to come in. The first lady was in the right to stay in her lane, when everyone passed by, she can get over without interfering with the other runners. The second runner wasn't paying attention. They can't disqualify her.

that girl was supposed to GET OFF THE TRACK it wasnt the other girls fault. the Netherlands girl VIOLATED her lane and probably ruined her entire run by just a few seconds.

I'm so confused. When I did the 4x4 relay in high school we all had our own lane. No one ever had an oppertunity to run in to anyone or dodge anyone. How tf is this race set up where this is possible. That pass off looked like a hot mess.

The girl was between lane 4 & 3 to receive the baton. When the baton was handed over to her she moved off lane 4 to receive the baton in lane 3. Once the baton in hand she moved from lane 3 to 2 and then 1, even a tad beyond lane 1 or no lane zone, no lane.

Most of the other runners after handing the baton remained in the back, the Dutch girl after handed the baton, instead of remaining back continued moving forward on lane 1 then getting off.

The Dutch girl should have remained back with the other after handing over the baton and not continue moving forward on lane 1.

Reference the other girl, she should have chosen a less blocked lane to run.

Once the baton is handed over you can not be in front of the new runners, you either stay back but never obstruct or stand in the way of new runners.

The Dutch girl was in the way!

A lotta of y'all seem to be new to track and field rules 😂😂😂, y'all don't see the other runners using that same lane? It's easier to use the inner lanes in middle distance relays like 400m, 800m, 1500m, and therefore it's legal and helpful to the runners. After u give the baton, u leave the track immediately
