Turn Off YouTube Ads [Channel Wide and Videos]

Turn off ads for individual videos
Sign in to YouTube.
Click your profile picture - YouTube Studio.
In the left-hand menu, click Content.
Select the video that you want to turn off ads for.
In the left-hand menu, click Monetisation.
In the top 'Monetisation' box, click - Off - Apply.
In the top-right corner, click Save.

Absolutely hate when I'm doing the dishes and my hands are just soaked or greasy.. an ad rolls and it just continues, sometimes being a whole video itself.

Alan's great, but Alan, this 'Turn Off Ads' tutorial is at least half-useless. It gives absolutely NO information for people (like myself and at least half the commenters below) who have a small, un-monetized channel with less than the 1000 subscribers required. For us, the Monetization links/click-boxes Alan directs you to DO NO EVEN EXIST. In all his 3 approaches. We simply don't even see ANY of these Monetization choices.
And for some of us low-key YouTube posters (like myself, ) having 1000 subscribers and 4000 public watch-hours may be years away. Does that mean all of us non-aggressive YouTube promoters are screwed? With no avenue for removing ads from our simple videos for all the years they exist? Can you answer, Alan?

I got an ad on my song that I wrote. EVERYTHING in that video belongs to me: the art, the singing voice, and the guitar was done by my brother. So the fact that someone is making money off MY song feels like they're trying to steal it from me.
And I can't find that dollar sign thing, my channel is not monetized. This is not fair

This only works for channels who have more than 1000 subscribers. It doesn't work for smaller channels like mine. I cannot have ads on my videos because they're guided meditations. I'm struggling to figure out how to turn these off. Please help if you can. Thanks!

My problem is youtube is making money on videos when I am not even monetized. And I applied for monetization this week and they rejected me for "reused" content or whatever nonsense. So my next plan is to place all of my videos on private except for my main animation videos. They can't make money if viewers can't watch them. Some people want me to focus entirely on animations on the channel. However, I have games and other content as well. Animation takes days, weeks, or months. My main animation was the Aang Last Airbender August AnimChallenge I did in 2020. That is my highest viewed video. There was only one month to do the challenge, and it had to 8 seconds. Yes that long for 8 seconds of animation. And youtube is earning their revenue from my video without my permission. If they won't get me monetized, then I might as well put all of my other videos on private to prevent companies from getting money.

I have a channel that I rarely use because I've been busy. It has 593 subs and YouTube is running ads. It has only 12 videos with one having almost 60K views and the next in line with 30K. It doesn't matter, all my videos have ads on them and it's very annoying, especially since they're not paying me. Part of me feels like unlisting them but I can't grow that channel if people can't see them.

This does not solve my problem. YouTube is showing advertisements on my personally created videos regardless of the fact that I am not eligible for monetization. I have less than 1000 subscribers. There are no functions that allow me to turn off monitization.

Ads suddenly started appearing on my channel today 2021/4/11. Did they change something? I can't turn it off using the steps you've shown here. I don't have the Monetization tab in Upload Defaults (only Basic Info & Advanced Settings), and my Content page doesn't have the Monetization column either. Is this a glitch, or is YT now forcing ads on our channel whether we like it or not?

Hi Alan! Thanks for this information. I have been uploading my own music videos for a few years now and have never had any adverts show up on them. But this week I uploaded one to my channel and noticed that adverts are on it which is such a pain and does ruin the experience of what I am putting up. I tried what you suggested but there is nowhere on my channel that I can find that tab Monetization anywhere to be I have Basic, Advanced settings but not the Monetisation option. I have searched all around my channel and content areas and zilch!! Can you help me understand firstly where it may be and secondly how I stop those horrid adverts. Cheers xx

Thanks for this video. I've been having advertisements for the last few years on my videos and I never turned them on, and I don't earn anything. But I learned from watching your video that I don't have any of the modernization buttons on my interface. So now I need to figure out why ads are showing up with my content. Any ideas?

Turning monitization does not remove the ads. All it does is allow ads without being paid.

Hello Alan, I did get to Settings-Upload defaults and then got on top right ONLY Basic Info and Advanced settings - no Monetisation? Why? Ads start showing on almost all my videos and it is annoying

Can you turn add OFF if your page is not eligible for monetization?? ... we do not see the options in your video on our channel.
