The opt out option is a fake action. The activities of opt out of ads would mentally satisfy an user, but in reality it never stops any ad. Pre 2018 I used to regularly do this and was sure to note that keeping the ad personalisation ON is a better option and remove categories, by turning it off, which will take less time.

My TV memories go back to pre-digital days when the uk had just 2 BBC channels and 2 commercial channels. On the commercial channels a programme would run for 20 mins before any ads, then at about 20 min intervals. Great days.

When using the Youtube app I can not recognize the steps from after "Your Online Choices" at 1:53. Some other window is showed with the text "Your choices" instead of "Users Current IBA Status", and no option to choose "Continue". Its is NO longer possible to delete all the different companies. Maybe a brand new update from Youtube to prevent users to get fewer ads? Or just different from country to country (I live in Denmark)?

Youtube makes it so difficult to report ads. They should give us the option since they're making money off the ads being shown to us. So much that is inappropriate cause relationship issues.

The ad blocker doesn't work, so... just pause the ad and close the video, then go to library to continue last watched video. It's annoying but it beats the $@#* system.

Doesn't not showing ads from all those companies just mean you will see the same ads over and over again from whatever is left? The amount of ads shown doesn't change.

What if I use a computer instead of a phone? I can't find a lot of the chrome functions that you describe on my computer's chrome browser. I can opt pout of personalized adds but nothing more specific.

The only real defence against unwanted adds. Hit mute and look away for the required time. I use the time to blink and look around. Never pay attention to them
