I was pulled over last week. It was dark, I turned my light on, grabbed my license, registration, and pistol permit. Had them all in my hand and put both hands on the wheel. He asked for it and when he saw the permit, he asked where the gun was, I told him it was on my belt. He then said he pulled me over because I was speeding(I was). But he let me go right then. It's amazing how much treating someone with respect gets you.

I disagree with telling the officer. Normally they'll just write you a ticket or give a warning let you go. No questions about a firearm. By telling him you have a gun you'll make him nervous right off the bat.

Well there is zero reason for them to handcuff a person just because they have a permit. I get that your should keep your hands in plain sight but handcuffing a person for legally carrying aint right.

You actually don't have to tell the police that you have a firearm, even if they ask. It has not been deemed a "lawful order" in the state of Florida. So that in mind, JUST SAY NO. Save everyone the stress of that kind of interaction.

Someone gave me 4 rules a long time ago if you get pulled over. Yes sir, no sir, hands in plain sight, and no sudden moves. Do those 4 things and you're not likely to have a problem.

My 2 cents. Keep your vehicle registration and insurance card together and readily available. When pulled over, immediately get your license from your wallet and get the readily available registration and insurance card. Have them at the ready by the time the LEO is at your window asking for them. Be polite, answer any questions. Disclose the truth of a firearm only if asked. No sense in bringing firearm drama into a traffic infraction! This advice is only for Florida. Other states have different laws, so please check them.

You don’t have to say anything about a gun if they ask. All you have to do is show the permit when they ask for the permit. You’re going to stress them out with that so, why not unholster and throw it in the console and close it or throw it under the seat, where they won’t see it. Anyone challenging the first part, I want a statute saying exactly what needs to be shown when.

I was recently pulled over. I pulled over right away, I turned the car off and placed the keys on the dash, opened the windows, and stuck my hands through the steering wheel and waited for the officer to come. Let him know about firearm in car he said don’t touch it and we will be fine. I didn’t even get a ticket. If you respect the cops most times they respect you.

Just give cops your driver license, registration and the proof of insurance. It is your constitutional right not to answer any of their questions.

If you are concerned carrying, can you insert your fifth amendment right after handing over your license, registration, and insurance without legal consequences?

Also, let’s say you aren’t licensed to concealed carry, but the gun is legally yours tucked away in the glove compartment. Can you insert your 5th amendment without legal ramifications later?

Easier than that, I already have my license and CWP in my hand to give to the officer when they approach the vehicle.
