I chose the regular Echo tower for my first device because I think the screen version can be a little ostentatious in the room (I already had a TV in the room and always carry a phone, to me it was too many screens). The regular echo tower blends in more and feels hidden. What I like about this tech is that it's mostly about the voice commands and connectivity. I'd feel like the echo show was just another smart phone that someone left lying around. Then again, it would be good for a room without a television or a room where you don't normally have any media devices and is away from your phone, like in a library or a study. I thought about getting one for my nightstand, but I was worried it would be too much of a distraction, so I got the echo dot w/ clock face instead. I agree with the built-in battery idea; in fact I had assumed that the echo and echo dot already had that feature and was surprised to find out they couldn't be wireless. The magnetic bases could easily act as wireless chargers.

One of the things I love about my new Echo show 5 is the clock function, and I decided keep it on my nightstand. I am a busy teacher. I added my school Google Calendar to my Echo. When the Echo wakes me up “gently” with the sunrise option (thanks Craig!), I can review my to-do’s for the day. I also added a 30-minute morning routine of yoga and mediation. So far this techie teacher loves the Echo!

Your review of the Show 5 is spot on. I too have had mine for about a month and continue to find new features. It is the best alarm clock I have ever owned and the size of the display is perfect. This is one of Amazon's best products for sure!

Great review and I agree, it’s one of my favorite Echo devices. The sound is really good for a device that small. I bought it on Prime Day and also got the stand. I replaced an old-school digital bedside clock with the Echo Show 5 and it’s a huge upgrade. Most-used features for me are as a smart home controller, weather, Audible, and upcoming calendar events. Highly recommend waiting for the $49.99 sale price, though.

Hi, I am loving your reviews I purchased this awesome Amazon Echo Show 5 on day of release, I personally think this is the best Echo device out all of them! I have a Echo Show in my Lounge which is rather big! I will be upgrading it to another Echo Show 5, and a further another 2 for my Smart Home so each room as got Video Calling :)

It is the best Amazon Echo purchase I have made so far!
