1. It has saved me thousands of dollars in gas, car payments, insurance, maintenance, parking.
2. It's always easy to find parking, and bike racks are always right next to the door. It's better than handicap parking.
3. No parking fees, validation, hassles trying to remember where in the 30 story parking structure that you parked.
4. It's fun. Seriously. I look for opportunities to go for a joy ride under the guise of an errand. I feel like a kid again.
5. I get to work refreshed and happy from a super fun ride rather than frustrated at traffic, or sweaty from a bike ride.

In my experience (here in Australia) it's not the cost advantage, I own an awesome little Toyota Yaris for $1, 500, and a Kaabo Wolf Warrior X base that cost $3, 200 (cause Australia) But, commuting to work and recreational riding is just so much fun. I could simply drive the Yaris to work on 2 degrees Celsius mornings (35 degrees F) in warm cozyness, or in summer at 90°F in air conditioned comfort.

But, and just like Kim Kardashian, it's a big butt, the scooter ride is an adventure each and every time, there are no parking hassles, there are few red lights, there are zero frustrations.

And above all that, it seems to make me happy, like there is a real metal health benefit as well, why that is hard to measure or quantity, it's the best part of riding an e scooter, for me. 😁

To be honest, I mainly use my E scooter for fun 80% of it. It's a combination of mountain biking and Street biking without a hassle. Depending on the scooter it can be a great one stop shopping.

For example: my friend and I post to ride around the park instead we gone to the mall. Unfortunately I didn't bring a lock, so I had to visit the mall with my full gear on. (Full body gear. Similar to BMX look.). It's awkward to have people stare at you (occasionally they comment me ride.). After gone through 3 low and medium speed accidents. Having the privilege to tell the till. It's as dangerous as motorcycle and Street biking. All risks aside. Gotta be 99% awareness. It's a lot of fun! Buy it at your own pleasure, although it's also risks.

I agree with all 5 of your reasons - I live on the coast in the south of England and shooting along our hilly seaside roads between towns breathing the fresh air and without breaking a sweat is a joy!

I've owned and used the ff. electric scooters in a year now:

Mainly for commuting from home to work to running quick errands to grabbing something from the nearby store. Done short and long rides, solo and small/big group rides.

Small or big e-scooter, riding on 2 wheels with the torque of an electric-powered machine is just so much fun. Cost and convenience are also all covered.

I bought an electric scooter because I have always wanted to own a motorcycle, but I deemed them too unsafe. So I bought a 4000w escooter - and promptly broke my elbow! Always wear protection!

I bike ride into work some days for adventure. 36km round trip 55mins there 1hour 20mins back (uphills suck). A scooter seems like the perfect commute experience. Still getting that adventure and fresh air while not feeling like I ran a marathon before an 8 hour shift. A car can get me there in 20minutes with traffic. A scooter can get me there in 30minutes with all the traffic in the world/accidents/stalled vehicles. It’s the PERFECT machine.

They look really awesome, but I also want to go on long trips to nearby islands and coastal cities on the weekends. Recently bought an ebike, because it is really easy to add an extra battery or find one with a 100km+ range.

In short commutes, budget scooters win since they’re lightweight and low power, it’s their most efficient form unless you want to exercise. In medium or long commute, it depends what you’re looking for. An E scooter doesn’t require effort, still takes less space and weights less or the same most of the time, but it’s range is lesser since the motor is doing all the work are you’re standing up (unless you got a seat accesory). An E bike peaks at 1000w with moped ebikes, so you’re getting less speed and aren’t entirely road capable. Another thing to consider is where you’ll store your vehicle. If you need to bring it inside, a bike might not be possible while an E scooter might be more likely to be permitted.

So in short, E bikes excel in comfort, range and at carrying luggage while E scooters excel at portability, weight and speed.

I just got my first scooter today. I also live in the Bay Area and I’m thrilled to have portable transportation I can take to the store or the gym. Driving is a nightmare for me and everyone else who has to share the space. I love my bike but locking it up is not an option due to theft and it’s not possible to bring it in everywhere. It’s also a pain to get it through double doors and up flights of stairs to my apartment. Bike and scooter share is what I used until now, but availability and repair status is unreliable, and they’re expensive.
