3 Best Portfolio Trackers to Monitor Your Stocks, ETFs, Mutual Funds and Crypto

A portfolio tracker helps to manage multiple investment accounts, including retirement and taxable accounts, as well as HSAs. The best portfolio trackers are free or low cost, offer an easy user interface, and provide useful information about your portfolio.

My favorite is Personal Capital. It's free, offers excellent tools to evaluate asset allocation, investment fees and retirement readiness. And its combination of charts and tables make understanding the data very easy. It tracks my dividends and interest. And while I don't own crypto, Personal Capital can track the value of digital tokens for those who own Bitcoin, Ether, and other coins.

There are other options, of course. In this video I cover 3 of the better investment trackers. In the article linked to below, I go over 8 options.

Way too many calls from Personal Capital. I recommend that you stick with your spreadsheets.

I love my personal capital account but it doesn't handle options well. But frankly, nothing does.

Would love to see a TSP or military/federal specific video. I realize this may be more niche than most of your viewers would like but it’s hard to find great resources. Thanks!

May I ask do you know of any good program that you can track all your expenses on not just major expenses?
On a separate note I see you answered the question of brokerage pass words and log in, so assume that PC does not use them? So with that said how do they pull the data if there not logging into your account with your log in and password?

Great video Rob. I am not as sophisticated in my investing as some. My main use of these portfolio trackers is tracking over all portfolio balance and to use them for rebalancing my asset allocation. Personal Capital will no longer link to my VG accounts so will Stock Rover give me an asset allocation if I link accounts? Morningstar is just too cumbersome to constantly manually update holdings. Are there any other basic trackers that you could recommend for simply tracking asset allocation?

I like Personal Capital, but just wish they’d stop calling me

Is there a identity theft concern when linking your accounts to a portfolio tracker? It seems like the portfolio tracker service would have all your user names and passwords?

"If you don't pay for the product, you ARE the product". How is Personal Capital reimbursed for providing such a valuable tool?

Rob, I like Personal Capital, especially the Income and Expenses portion. Alos the Retirement planning. The only hope is if they could add the withdrawal strategy portion. Thanks.

You talk about how bad dividend investing is. Is there a Non dividends pay company worth 2T? There is Multiple dividend companies worth 2T

There is no ability to add crypto to Stock Rover. Also I am not able to manually enter purchase price into personal capital. Am I missing something ?

I started adding our personal info into Personal Capitol and I'm comparing with my Charles Schwab platform. I would say it's helpful but I kind of like better Schwabs. Thanks

Does anyone have trouble linking Vanguard to Personal Capital?

I used to really like Personal Capital but over the past few months their product has become disappointing. One current persistent issue is that dividends, interest and capital gain distributions do not show up as “income” in the cash flow function (they did about a year ago). Also the posted balances for some of my savings accounts is incomplete and not up to date- the balance currently listed was the balance months ago (I wonder if this due to 2-factor authentication?). Is anyone else having these issues?

Somehow I was still showing the Doughrollers podcast, and didn't realize it changed to the Rob Berger Show. Back in rotation now. I recommend it for anyone, especially traveling in the car on commutes.

My personal capital tracker stopped working, I believe it’s because I won’t use their services. I have updated the apps etc to no avail.
